Esme

Catching Tarjinn’s words, Esme sighed, “Ah, you noticed...” She responded as she began to rub the back of her neck a little, feeling silly for being so worried. “Yes, we can… I know you, nor, I will allow her to freeze.” She said with a smile back to him. Having someone with her that was so well at reading how she felt made the feline feel a bit more at ease. Tarjinn was a very thoughtful male one that she clearly loved at that… However, she still didn’t know how he truly felt about her… He was fond of her in a family sort of way however… did he feel any stronger feelings towards her such as love? She wasn’t sure, about that time the Leopard woman returned her gaze to Suu to find the cub holding something within her jaws humming a reply to the two of them. About that time, her dragonborn fiance asked the cub to stay close, as well as, to gently scold the cub for speaking with her mouth full. “Yes, what exactly do you have?” Esme followed suit, a bit of a worried chuckle escaping her. She hoped whatever the cub had wasn’t poisonous or something. Moments later, Suu bounded forward taking the creature out of her mouth with a big grin on the cubs face. “I think it’s a rat!” She so proudly announced however, the creature wasn’t exactly a rat it was actually a prairie dog. “How in the world did you manage to catch that?” Esme asked before allowing a relaxed giggle to escape her lips. “Suu, that’s not a rat, my dear. That’s a prairie dog.” she informed her before dismounting her horse to get a better look at the animal. From the looks of the animal, how lifeless it was, the Lynx had managed to kill it quickly whether she meant to or not. “Well, it seems you caught a nice little snack.” Esme praised her before looking up at Tarjinn who still sat on his stead. “Would you like to take a bit of a rest and enjoy a small snack? It shouldn’t be much longer before we will arrive at the next village... so we have time..” informing him of the time they had, she hoped he’d feel ready to take a rest from riding and sit down for a moment on solid ground. In the meantime while she waited for the fellow’s reply, Suu was giddily jumping around obviously very proud of her successful hunt.

Ailani Kilrune’s Phoenix

Hearing Kilrune’s voice carry through the life less room, Ailani’s eyes shot up to meet his. At first she looked surprised but soon that surprise faded to a warm smile, for the moment she’d forget her worries and allow her lover the warmth of her gaze. “Ah, yes I have… does it show?” She asked as a chuckle escaped her, she knew her face was probably covered in dirt, as well as the rest of her. Watching as her fiance-to-be sauntered over towards her, the dragonborn hybrid watched as he stepped passed her and peeked out the door at her hard work. “It’s not quite finished but it's getting there!” the mutt smiled at him before receiving a quick kiss to the cheek, only to laugh at the displeased expression that took over. “Oh? Well, I thought you’d love to experience a dirty kiss. It took a lot of work to get this filthy!” She laughed before quickly grabbing hold of him, “Why don’t I give you another one? I’m sure it’s not that bad!” She giggled as she continued to tease him. “Nothing like a dirty time together right!?” Ailani teased as she managed to pull herself up to his lips and deliver another kiss. With Tarjinn gone they could enjoy their time together instead of feeling like they were walking on eggshells, and though they were not as driven for bedroom activities they still had their romantic time together.

Alyana

“Stallion? I don’t feel like that is inappropriate.” She replied smiling at the name, it was after all what an uncut male horse was called, it was fitting in her mind. “Well, I think Stallion is more fitting then Claymore.” Alyana smiled as she thought about the name options. Claymore didn’t seem fitting, it made the animal sound dangerous and unruly.. She was sure if Legion had only told her that name the hybrid would have felt quite uneasy to meet the horse. Turning one final corner, Alyana’s eyes lit up at the sudden change in scenery. It was so decorative and regal all of a sudden… She didn’t know what to say, so for the moment she stayed silent but clearly in aw at the change. With Legion’s words leaving his lips the tiefling hybrid murmured, still clearly surprised, “I’d say… “ this was the faciest stable she’d ever seen… it looked as though the horses lived almost as well as the king himself. Before long the young woman was meeting Claymore, staying close to Legion, Alyana giggled as the horse blew hot air at them. “My, you’re not a Claymore at all… You’re a Stallion for sure.” She whispered to the horse as she offered her hand to the animal so he could sniff her before trying to pet him. Surprisingly, she wasn’t in the least bit scared of the horse. Everything about the animal just screamed gentle giant, “He’s lovely Legion. It’s better to have a biscuit that listens instead of a horse that's a chore to ride” She told him as she gently stroked the bridge of the animal's nose. Listening to the man ramble about his horse she couldn’t help but feel abit amused, he truly enjoyed his horse even if he didn’t seem to want to admit it. “I see.” She said before allowing her hand to stop and rest on the horses forelock. About that moment, Alyana’s gaze fell blank, her eyes hazy, distant even.

Something wasn’t right, finally being pulled from the darkness, Alyana’s eyes widened. She could see an elf with long white hair and golden eyes laying in pain within the castle… David hovering over the woman, a worried look in the man’s eyes as sweet dripped down his forehead. And a large deer of sorts, with white fur, blue eyes.. Tack on it’s body… Putting her free hand to her head she tried to make since of all the scenes she was seeing. Was the elf in the castle? Was that really David? What was going on? With all these questions flying through her mind she was finally pulled back to reality as the same large white creature was being brought through the entrance they had come through. It was unstable, blood was seeping through a bandage which looked to be hastily put on the animal. Alongside the beast, were guards of the castle, ninja’s to be precise assisting the creature. Why… What was going on ? “L-Legion” She managed to say to bring the tieflings attention from his horse to the wounded creature just down the hall of the stable. Alyana wanted to help the animal but… it didn’t look nearly as friendly as Stallion. Looking at his armored rack she felt uneasy, however, it was a beautiful animal should couldn’t allow it to stay in pain like it was… but would it allow her to help it? Rather, was there someone else who needed her help more?

Ovarr & Rorran

Hearing what the doctor had to say caused Rorran to smile but also feel a bit sorry for the dragonborn. Even though the woman had no idea she was carrying twins to know one wasn’t alive anymore was rather upsetting or at least to the cat folk it would be.

As the hybrid howled in amusement, Ovarr noticed their mates were no where in sight. “Hey… Where’d Rorran and Thavre go?” He asked curiously feeling his amusement die as a slight bit of concern took over.

Fraeya

With the extra support given to her head with the second pillow he provided, Fraeya wanted to thank him but at the moment she just managed a nod of gratitude. Listening silently, she allowed a sigh of relief to leave her lips, her son was safe as well as her stead… that was wonderful news. “T-Tha- thank th- the gods.” She managed to murmur as her eyes rested on the ceiling above them. Listening as the kind king spoke once more, Fraeya returned her golden hues to the man. “It’s- quite… the story.” She spoke softly, clearly still tired and in pain. “Wolves…” She stammered, “However, they were not the only reason… “ she spoke through gritted teeth, “I pro-mise… I’ll share every-thing with you this evening.” closing her eyes, all she wanted was rest but she knew the king was worried for his people, she knew why he was wanting to pry and find the reasons for her blind dash through the forest.

Tarjinn

Listening to the nervous Esme, Tarjinn couldn’t help but chuckle softly. There was no way that either of them would let Suu fall out of their radar, especially when it came to her wellbeing. If they had to sleep on either side of her at night to keep her warm or hold a torch at her side to prevent her whiskers themselves freezing off, they would make that sacrifice. He was sure Esme would do even more than that, the kitten being her past lover’s sister. Somehow that had stuck in the back of his mind for the better part of the last two weeks. Feeling his horse stop, he came back to reality as he saw Esme dismount and walk over to the aforementioned lynx, Suu lifting up her catch to the snow leopard with pride. He wouldn’t downplay a catch from the kitten, as after all, he wanted to teach her self defense while they were on their journey anyways. Catching her own prey was a wonderful start to teaching her about her surroundings and how to capture her target. Esme asked him about resting, and he nodded with a swift dismount of his steed before taking the reins of both horses, walking over to the two girls in the grass. “I think that’s a wonderful idea. Suu can have what she likes of her first catch of the trip, why don’t I snag us something quickly in the forest?” He tied the two horses with decent space and length of their reigns, letting them relax and chew at the foliage under their hooves. It was a nice spot, he had to admit, though the tall grasses were not the most ideal for spending a night or roaming around frequently in. Bugs were sure to crawl into nooks and crannies that he was not fond of. “I’d rather save our dried foods for when we don’t have nice access to the woods. But, I can prepare some dried fruits and meats in the next village so we have some extra.” Dusting off his hands, he came up next to Esme and teasingly breathed a puff of cold air towards her. “Would you also like a prairie dog?” he said with a grin, eyes sparkling in the dimmer leaf light. “Seems that’s on the menu this afternoon.”

Kilrune

Kilrune couldn’t help but laugh at Ailani’s response about her dirt-covered appearance, but her grabbing his tie was the last thing he was expecting. Grinning down at her, he bent down to be more eye level with her as she continued before placing her lips right atop his. He couldn’t complain, the dusty soil could be tolerated if it meant a kiss from the woman he was closest to. One hand going down to her waist, he pulled her against his chest before pulling away, sticking out his tongue again. “Hey, a dirty time isn’t a bad time! But I prefer,” he bent down and whispered in her ear, smirking to himself after and feeling her skin warm. “Can’t have that with all this dirt! If you’re not finished, I can help you with the rest, though you’re going to be the one to take my clothes in to get cleaned! You made them dirty after all.” He continued to grin, thumb stroking her back as he spoke. “Then again, I’m usually the worst one about that, breaking the bed and whatnot.” Which he was sure to repay the innkeeper for, with an extra tip on top to make sure he wouldn’t spread the word. It was mostly to prevent the rumors spreading to Tarjinn and Mellow, but somehow that cat knew the secrets of every scale he borne on his skin. She had been onto him nonstop if he had broken anything else. Luckily, as far as he knew, they hadn’t.

Legion

The tiefling watched Alyana carefully, his eyes locked to her hands, her motions, her expressions as she approached his mount. He was prepared at a moment’s notice to jump in between her and the beast before them, but he was sure that he would do no harm. The animal was too gentle like he had stated before. The young woman was even friendly to the giant and called him Stallion. Something stirred in his heart that was unfamiliar, and he readjusted his stance to get rid of it. Her voice became its normal volume again as she addressed him, and he relaxed his hand onto the sword hanging loosely by his side. “You know, I suppose that is true,” he murmured in reply. “I do not care for stubborn beings that do not recognize the alpha when he enters the room. Stallion though, he for certain understands his place in the order of the kingdom and is comfortable in it. Soon enough, you will be too.” Her hand continued to pet his forehead, but she suddenly became still, eyes glazed over as though looking into another world. Hand tightening on his sword, he began to look around, questioning if the evil tyrant companion of hers had returned. He was prepared to put the creature into the ground to rot to hell, but he was not prepared at all for the group of ninjas rushing in with a great white deer, wounded and panting to keep alive. His arm flew out to protect Alyana as they paced, placing the mount in the first stall they found and chattering loudly, trying to keep the animal still and calm as they fixed its injuries. Where had it come from? His eyes were pulled away for only a moment at Alyana’s voice that came through the flurry of questions in his head, hers clearer than anyone else’s. She was a healer, wasn’t she? Was she trained in healing animals when creatures such as cats scared her? “If you know how to help, then help,” he told her, “but if you do not feel comfortable then do not feel obligated. Our staff knows how to get our steeds back up on their feet.” He wasn’t about to say that they had no experience whatsoever with the great antlered beasts of the forest, but surely they had to be somewhat similar? They could get the steed back to normality and continue to nurture it to full health. He needed to ask some questions, see who’s doing this was and how to solve the mystery. Was this what Alyana felt, the animal or commotion that made her feel so off before their arrival?

Bhakris and Thavre

Sitting in silence, Thavre’s brain rattled with all that was laid before her. There were so many things to say, to do, that she was frankly overwhelmed. A lost child, another one on its way...when did life choose this path for her? She suspected something had to be going on like this, but not this soon. Her and Bhakris would need a long talk about what they needed to do to prepare. Eggs were one thing, a hatchling plain out a completely different story. She didn’t even have Tarjinn there anymore to help her raise the child. She had been part of her own clan, but she was not often with the mothers. Without any other dragonborn besides Kilrune, who was also inexperienced and reckless, she was alone with her mate. Sighing out, she forced a smile when Pine turned around with a leather bag full of the medicine she required.

“Now come back, you hear?” the doctor teased lightly with a smile. “I’ll see you both in a week, and I hope to see that everything is going well. It’s a nice day outside, go enjoy it.” He pretended to shoo them from his office, waving to both. “And if anything changes, let me know!”

Bhakris’ own laughter died out in embers as Ovarr showed worry for their missing mates, along with his question of where they had gone. Looking around, he didn’t hear nor see them nearby. “Thavre?” he called, standing to his feet. Had they gone outside? He couldn’t remember hearing a door open, but he wasn’t exactly the greatest of hearing. “Rorran?” Walking to the back door, he opened it and called their name into the woods beyond to no avail. “They couldn’t have gone far, maybe they went for a walk or something,” he told the man, shutting and locking the door behind him. “Thavre likes to wander, though I can’t imagine Rorran wanting to go too far.”

Quote :

David

Concern washing over his expression, his eyes bore into her golden irises as she spoke, each word tiring and draining her energy. He would have stopped her, but she stopped herself before then, her eyes closing and breathing slowing after she gave him what she could give. Taking in her words, he nodded before standing to his feet and draping a blanket over her before he took his leave. He placed one of the guards at the door inside the room to watch over her and make sure she was not in pain, before walking to another down the hall and commanding a group go into the woods and scout for the wolves that had caused her injuries. Though she said they did not cover everything, they were still a danger to his family and the citizens of his town. If they were as close as she was, they were getting too confident. It meant he would also need to gather some new prey sources for them too, or drive them to new territory. So much to think about, but he didn’t need to right now. His force would go and drive them away or bring back their pelts, and that’s all he could do for now. Wringing his hands, he walked to the tiefling who was caring for the injured woman’s child. She sat on a couch with the boy snuggled in a blanket, rocking him slowly. As he approached, she looked up with a hint of a smile and gestured to him.

“He’s been through a lot, but he’s not gravely injured,” she whispered. “Not that I saw anyway. I’m trying to keep him calm and quiet until his mother wakes up again.”

His mother, yes. The boy was clearly not of his mother’s bloodline - was the father a tiefling? Is that why she ran, an outcast creature who abused her or a fallen comrade of their kingdom? It worried him to even ponder the possibility and would need to ask the woman for information regarding the little one. He did not want to see the baby grow up to be like any of his foul family, if that is where he originated from. “Here, I will take him for you,” he murmured back, and though the guard was a bit hesitant, she handed him over before walking from the room to return to her duties. The king held the baby tiefling in his arms and couldn’t help but smile as he made his way to the adjacent room to the infirmary, quietly thinking about all that had happened. Everyone was safe, and he would be informed of anything wrong. For now though, they were under his protection, and that’s the best he could give them in this moment of time.

Esme

Looking at Tarjinn as he made a suggestion for catching something fresh, Esme smiled and nodded his head, “Yes that sounds nice. I’ll get the fire ready.” She told him as she quickly began to grab a few things off her horses back. Part of the luggage was a blanket, skinning materials and a quick fire starter which was two rocks. Packing the set of items towards a less grassy area, Esme quickly began setting up their small resting area. “Suu why don’t you gather some rocks and sticks so we can get the fire started?” She asked her kindly before watching the child nod her head eagerly before handing the prairie dog to the woman and running off to gather some rocks and twigs. In the meantime, Esme began clearing any dead grass from the area to prevent a stray amber from causing a meadow fire. Once the rocks and sticks were gathered, Esme began showing Suu how to lay the rocks to protect the surrounding ground, “See, we put them in a circle like this… this keeps any logs or sticks from falling and rolling out of the pit.” Suu watched in astonishment, “What happens if it does roll out?” She asked curiously, “Well, it could cause a fire… but not only that you could accidentally step on a hot piece and burn your little paws.” She told her as she playfully grabbed one of her toes causing the girl to squeal playfully. Once that was done, Esme quickly began showing her how to gut and skin the animal. Now, we cut the creature from here, to about the neck area. The snow leopard pointed at the prairie dogs stomach nearly at the animals pelvis, before dragging her claw up in a straight line to the animals collarbone. “Why do we do that Esme?” Suu asked, “Well because, if you don’t you can’t remove the organs and it makes the skinning process a bit easier.” She explained, after that Esme began fully skinning the creature showing Suu just exactly what she had to do. “Esme.. doesn’t that hurt it?” She asked curiously causing the leopard to chuckle a bit, “Well if it was alive I’m sure it would but it’s dead, dear. It’s life was taken to feed us.” She told her gently as the topic of life and death settled into Suu’s young mind. For a moment, the child looked as though she was going to tear up but she sucked up the painful look and forced a smile forward. “We have to eat, and it’s not going to waste so its okay.” The child murmured before quickly grabbing a stick to help Esme get it over the fire. “Ah yes we have to make a spit!” The leopard smiled as she laid the animal on a clean surface to tie a few sticks together to making legs and above that a place to hang the animal to cook.

Ailani Kilrune’s Phoenix

Watching as his dragonic lips pulled into an amused grin, Ailani couldn’t help but smirk right back at him before he leaned down and she delivered the “dirty” kiss. Feeling his hand run down her waist she grinned until he pushed himself away and stuck his tongue out at her before whispering his own teasing words into her ear. Instantly her face flew to a vibrant red and she pushed herself away from him, feeling his fingers slide from her back and waist, “Hey! I’m the one doing the teasing!” She protested before walking towards him giggling as she did. “That’s not how this works, you should know that by now!” She told him as she gathered up her skirt to make it easier to escape him. Laughing at his comment she rolled her eyes, “Oh really? Ha, find someone else to do your laundry.. I’m no house wife, darling.” She told him as she turned her back and looked over her shoulder to stick out her own tongue at him before quickly retreating around the table away from him.

Alyana

With her eyes locked on the white stag which was now being guided into the stall.. fighting with every step, heaving for air, clearly stressed out. Almost as soon as Legion had parted his lips to give her the okay to aid the animal, Alyana was darting across the stable and quickly stepping into the stall. “Restrain his legs and head… That wound is bleeding too much to be left open.” She warned them as the ninja’s had been trying to dress it. Obviously the animal was thrashing too much to properly stitch the wound however, if they could restrain it properly she would be able to do it with little difficulty. For a moment, the guards looked at her almost shocked she was giving them orders, however, they took notice of who was with her and quickly began doing as they were instructed. Looking at another guard, “Please get me two buckest of boiling water, make sure one has about half a cup of salt fully dissolved in it.. I need it to rinse the wound. Also, take this.” She quickly pulled her bag open and pulled out a small vial, “This is Rosemary and Lavender dump the entire vial in the salt water solution while boiling, once boiled it creates a numbing agent.. It’ll aid in reducing pain while stitching up the wound.” She informed the guard before quickly sending the man off to do the job she requested.

Now that the animal was restrained, Alyana could get a good look at what she was dealing with. Gently, the woman removed the hastily wrapped bandage to reveal a deep wound in the animal's side. Looking at it, at first, it looked ot be a small wound, a scrape even, however, with how much the wound was bleeding she knew that wasn’t the case. Reaching out to the wound, the false hybrid allowed her fingertips to touch the edges of the wound. Instantly her eyes glazed over, “What happened to you hmmm?” She whispered as she crouched down. This time, the woman’s eyes glazed over it seemed even though her gaze was distant.. She was clearly searching for something. Before long, the scene at the river unfolded, seeing it through the Stags eyes at first before getting a birds eye view. He had been slammed into a rock along with limbs which had been caught on the sharp structures. Running her opposite hand alongside the ribs of the animal, she could feel something was lodged under the flesh. Pulling herself from the vision Alyana inhaled sharply, that was the first time she’d willingly pushed herself into a vision… it was quite different from the norm. Stifling a cough, the woman quickly reached her bloody hands into her bag to quickly grab a set of gloves. She’d bought them for the garden however she never used them for such a thing and knew they were clean enough for the job. Shaking off the haze on her mind, Alyana quickly located her small knife which was concealed in her bag before pushing the satchel off to the side getting it out of the way. “Make sure the ropes are strong please… This will cause him to thrash quite a bit.” She warned the guards as she unsheathed the small blade, “He has a large piece of wood stuck in his side, running just along his fourth rib. If it’s allowed to stay in there he’ll die from infection.” she told them. She didn’t have anything to feed the animal to calm him and sedate him which was unfortunate… So she hoped the animal was strong enough to endure a bit more pain. As she began widening the incision the stag let out a hellish screaming grunt which the young woman did her best to tune out, the guard with the two buckets of water returned at that moment, “Just in time.” She murmured before rinsing the blade in the plain sterilized water. Once the wound was larger, she began feeling around the wound to see just how far up the wood piece was. A soft sigh left her lips she had a feeling it wasn’t going to slide out as easily as it did going in. “Please, fill me a drinking canister with the herbal salt water mixture, and poor as much of it as you can into the wound as I open it up.” She spoke to the guard beside her, however, the man seemed hesitant, “I have very little time to do this sir.. IF you won't do it Legion will.” she scolded him, narrowing her normally soft gaze up at him. She took her job seriously and when someone hesitates during something as important as a surgery she was not going to sit back and take it.

Fraeya

After several hours of rest, Fraeya's golden eyes slowly opened. As she laid there, soaking in her surroundings she remembered where she was, what happened… Exhaling softly, the woman could finally fully relax, she was no longer being chased by her husband and his army nor was she being hunted by a pack of wolves…. She, her son, and stag were safe. Looking to her side, she half expected the infant to be laying next to her on the bed, like he had been the entire journey when they slept, however, the boy wasn’t there. Feeling a sudden wave of panic and a burst of energy, now that she was fully rested, she quickly pulled herself into an up right position. Resting her back against the headboard of the bed, she groaned as the pain from her leg rolled over her. However, she wasn’t about to sit there idly, she wanted to find her son and make sure he was alright, as well as her stag.

Pushing herself up off the bed as she swung her legs over the edge, Lady Fraeya struggled to stay on her feet, using the bed to stabilize herself as she stammered alongside it. Keeping a hand on the bed, she limped towards the bed until the piece of furniture was to far away for her to successfully lean on for support.

Tarjinn

Satisfied that the two girls would have things handled while he was gone, Tarjinn nodded and set a hand on the bone daggers hanging on his hip before he headed off, glancing back once to be sure Suu was with Esme before the trees blocked his view. What was in this area that he could hunt? As much as a buck would be exciting to chase, there was no time and they were not stopping for the night. Whatever he could find that was medium-sized or smaller would do to share between him and Esme. Eyes narrowed in the dimmer lighting, he kept his movement swift and quiet as he maneuvered his way through the forest. Leaves brushing along in the wind, the crunching of foliage beneath his feet, the twitter of birds and harmony of insects, all were relaxing sounds that brought him back to his days venturing the countryside and mountains with Kilrune at his side. How long ago that was now, the both of them far younger than they were now. Kilrune now owned his manor, Tarjinn had a family, and the both of them were venturing on their own paths now apart from each other. They would meet again, but likely not soon enough. The young man was ready for his own journey though, bonding with Ailani and forming a household he could be proud of. He would be his own master now, no longer a squire or apprentice to follow in his footsteps. He would create a path of his own. Palming a dagger, the dragonborn ducked into a crouch as scuttling was heard nearby. He traced the sound, heat senses tracking the movement until he found the creature nearby. However, when he got close enough to strike, he was disappointed to find only a squirrel, nothing of worth lying within. Not even its little bones would provide much satisfaction. Moving slowly through the trees, he searched for his next target, senses prime for taking down the best kill he could find for him and his fiance, just one of the many feats he was to show he was still prepared to fight for her and her kingdom, no matter what it took. From a small snack to protecting its borders and royal family, it was an honor to stand at her side and be loyal to her cause. It had been a very long time since he had swore himself to someone, let alone a kingdom or clan; it brought much peace to his heart.

Kilrune

Kilrune laughed in glee at her reaction to his tease, eyes sparkling with delight as she pulled away and avoided any further approaches from him. A tricky minx she was, but his minx to adore. He playfully swatted in the air to try and grab her before she veered out of his way, going around the table nearby to avoid him. Continuing to grin, especially as she stuck her tongue out, he chuckled and gripped one of the chairs. “No housewife? Well, we are always open to changing that.” Though marriage meant little to nothing to him only because it made no sense to him, he understood the importance of it to most everyone else. Marrying Ailani or anyone else was a big decision. But if he was going to marry anyone, it might as well be someone he was already attached to, in more ways than one. Maybe he would understand marriage if he actually participated in it. But, it was likely he was just caught up on Tarjinn and Esme’s tidal wave of emotions for each other and it had yet to wear off. He still loved sleeping beside Ailani every night and sharing a home with her, what made marriage any different than what they had right now? Everything seemed the same. “My beautiful phoenix,” he cooed playfully, harmless flames dancing on his fingers, “one day we will both be house spouses, and we can agree to do our own laundry. But I’ll still convince you to wash my clothes with my devilish charm.” He laughed, beginning to try and go around the table again to catch her in his arms once more. “You can’t resist me!”

Legion

Before his very eyes, Alyana had rushed ahead of him and taken control of the situation, barking orders yet still being polite and giving everyone a task they could understand. The moment began so suddenly that it took the tiefling a moment to get his bearings, arms crossed and eyes wide with interest. He did not expect this side from her even after how little of a time he knew her. His heart was racing so fast that he thought it would burst right from his ribcage, skin warm and tail curling behind him. Yes, this was a woman he would be glad to have in David’s castle. She could take charge and help heal whatever injured creature came across her path, even if it was daunting or terrifying. The admiration for her skill rose tenfold within him, and he almost felt excited, yet a strange variation, something he had never felt. This woman surprised him with each and every move she made. Striding over and crouching down, he braced a hand on the floor next to her, eyes glowing with a passion to work alongside her and see this mission of hers through. Her eyes glazed over again, touching the aching wound of the animal and going still for only a few moments before coming back as though nothing was amiss. It intrigued him so much, to see it this frequently in a day, that he pondered taking her right back to the library room and getting every detail from her. But this was sadly not the time for it - she had a duty to fulfill, and if anything this was her first test as the royal healer. If this stag recovered swiftly without trouble, Alyana would be well on her way to receiving her adornments of the kingdom, including her title and tiara. Perhaps he would keep a closer eye on her to give her a recommendation to the council. Her trained hands worked with her materials, handing off tasks and so focused that the world around them had vanished. Heart still racing, he watched her sterilize her blade and feel for where she would place the incision, when she growled at one of the ninjas, threatening him with his backup support if the man did not succeed. The guard got the hint from both of their hard gazes upon him and raced to get the mixture, coming back soon with it. Legion could have thrown himself upon Alyana if she were not in the middle of a life or death situation. He wanted to see this side of her far, far more often. Eyes glowing with ferocity, he stared at her with a perfectly still and poised body. “Tell me what I need to do,” he told her in a guttural voice, low only for her ears. “At any time, your command will be fulfilled.” He was ready to commit any order she had. This was a woman who knew what she was doing and would stop at nothing to succeed. She was truly perfect in this moment, the one they needed within the castle walls to protect their people and their land.

David

As the hours passed by, guards switched out rotations between watching over the injured woman, making sure she was recovering and nothing was painful or irritating to her. Reports from each would be given to David after each shift, and the king found them more or less the same. Still sleeping, still at peace, nothing changing other than a few shifts in her position or perhaps a mistaken mumbling in her sleep. Though he was pleased she was doing better than before, it wasn’t exactly the most exciting thing to wait for someone to awaken. Seated in the adjacent room, David had successfully placed the tiefling into a crib he had removed from storage and had a ninja bring in some of his paperwork to sign and stamp while he waited. The desk in this room was much smaller, but it overlooked the gardens and provided so much light that he couldn’t resist staying in it until the woman had awoken. Passing by hour after hour, he was in the middle of reviewing a request for an exchange in goods from a bordering kingdom when he heard a bit of commotion in the next room. Standing to his feet, worried that the woman had taken a turn for the worst, he rushed in only to see the guard standing up, eyes wide with confusion and worry as he stared at the woman, now fully awake and upright. “My lady?” David asked, clearing his throat after how scratchy he sounded, hours of lack of use and dehydration had not made for the greatest entrance. Walking over, he dismissed the guard before resting a gentle hand on her shoulder. “You really shouldn’t be walking with your leg injured,” he said calmly, trying to gesture her back to her bed. “Everything is okay, just rest and I or someone else in my charge will take care of anything you need.” He didn’t want her ruining her limb any more, for fear it may become infected too soon and cause worse damage down the road. He had seen the worst of infections in his kingdom, and did not want to see her suffer the same fate when she was coming here for refuge and safety. Giving her more pain and suffering was the opposite of his goals for Folgario and its people.

Toma

Toma was rather intimidated, standing at the large castle doors waiting for a court member to greet him and take him through the process of his delivery. Two baskets in hand and Yumeia carrying one as well, he had this first of many to bring once he had properly made all the bread requested for the castle cook. A feast was going to be prepared within the month, and the castle was buying plenty of local produce to help those living in the kingdom as well as give the more esteemed guests a true taste of their culture and livelihood. Having been contacted by the wave of soldiers that posted the requests to each business door, Toma had worked night and day to make enough bread dough to provide a decent amount for the Folgarian castle. Still tired, he was at least pleased with his work and smiled down at the girl at his side at her excitement. “Yes, little Yumi, we are! I’ve never been inside either, I’m sure it’s an amazing place.” It was truly an honor to be allowed to come and see the castle, even if only for a short moment. Hoisting up his baskets higher in his arms, the doors finally swung open to reveal a butler standing there, small smile on his face. “Ah, Mr. Toma, please come in.” Stepping aside, he allowed the two guests to enter, standing post next to the door. “Announcing the arrival of Mr. Toma and his…” The man looked to Toma, who blushed lightly and stammered out a response quietly, “uh, um...I guess, uh, daughter? Yumeia.” The butler didn’t seem all that surprised by the response and nodded, “and his daughter, Yumeia.” Closing the large doors behind him, the butler stayed with the two to make sure they did not get up to mischief, awaiting for the castle director to come and greet the two and lead them to where they needed to go.

Esme

With the cooking contraption complete, Esme quickly took some string from her satchel and began tieing the animal’s legs together so it would hang perfectly over the fire. “After a while, we will move the prairie dog a little more towards the middle, right now I have it just off to the edge of the flames so it doesn’t cook to fast and dry the meat out.” Suu nodded her head, her eyes very focus on the new task at hand. “Have we ever ate prairie dog before?” She asked curiously with a slight tilt of her lynx head. Smiling at the cub Esme nodded her head as an amused smile spread across her lips, “Yes, we had it a lot back when we were with the caravan… you were to busy playing and running around to pay attention then though.” The snow Leopard explained before chuckling at the cubs muttered “oops.” Cleaning up the mess from skinning and gutting the small prey, Esme looked to Suu before motioning for her to go play. “Go on, enjoy your time to stretch your legs… after our small meal, we will be mounting our horses again to continue our journey.” Watching as the lynx nodded her, Esme then quickly finished her cleaning and walked a fair distance away from their small camp to throw away the uneditable parts. As quickly as she had been able to do that, the leopard made her way back to Suu and the fire. Sitting down on a piece of a log near the fire, Esme listened to Suu giggling in the tall grassy meadow, and the fire pit crackling. Her mind was filled with Tarjinn, she hadn’t been able to stop thinking about him since they started this journey and if it wasn’t for Suu she’d be flustered and red-cheeked the entire trip. If she wasn’t careful all this heart-racing was going to bring on another problem and she did NOT need that especially with Suu with them. That was probably the only thing about being a cat-folk that she did not enjoy… Shaking the thoughts aside, she was sure that wouldn’t take place… she still had time before that time came anyways… right?

Ailani Kilrune’s Phoenix

“Oh are we?” She said raising her brows advising him to choose his words wisely, “You know, I’m not one to share the things most precious to me… If that is what you’re suggesting, I sure hope not.” She warned him as she slowly moved in the opposite direction he was, being careful not to get within grabbing length of her lover. Soon the man began cooing her nickname playfully as his fingers grasp the chair in front of him, “Will we?” She questioned slightly surprised with her teasing eyes dancing over him, “Well, I don’t see a ring on my finger yet!” She teased before squealing and giggling as she raced out of the room with Kilrune tailing her. Quickly as she rounded the corner, she gathered up the skirt of her soiled dress and began to attempt to run up the stairs.

Alyana

Hearing Legion’s words caused her eyes to travel towards him for a split second before returning to the wound she was carefully widening. “I need you to force some of the salt and herbal mixture up into the wound after I’ve finished this cut.” She told him, “Then once I remove the piece of wood within the wound, I’ll need you to do it again but do you’re best to get the liquid all the way to the back of the cavity… It’ll be a bit tough given that it is running along the rib…. I’d rather not make a larger incision then this entry wound, so get as much of it as you can up in there.” she instructed him carefully, once she was done with the width of the wound, she stepped back for Legion to rinse the wound before she carried on to remove the large splinter of sorts. Once he was done she quickly stepped forward and conitnued. With her left hand, she rolled the small flap of skin up before taking a look inside, “Ah there it is, it’s not all that far from the opening that is good.” She murmured before letting go of the skin she held up and turning towards her buck of water. She knew she wouldn’t be able to get the stick with her gloves on. So, quickly she took them off and began to sanitize her hands. For the moment, the stain wasn’t fading, thank god for her new skin dye recipe she’d been working on of a night. However, she knew with a bit of rubbing when it came time to scrub her skin it would come off… She hoped Legion would be well away from her by then… She wanted to show her true skin colors and share with everyone that she wasn’t who she’d been posing as however… that wasn’t that simple. Finishing the sanitizing process she quickly turned back to the large stag and began lifting the flap and sliding her small hand into the wound to pull the wood piece out. As she did this, the stag’s cries were almost deafeningly loud but she didn’t let it get to her, she knew the animal was strong and would hang in there as long as she hurried. Gently, she pulled the broken piece of tree limb out of the animal’s side, it’s size was rather surprising, it was the length of nearly afoot! Quickly, Alyana placed the blood coated piece of debris to the side and looked to Legion, “Please rinse the wound.” She asked him as she held the wound open enough to where he could finish the cleansing process. “That solution should number him up well enough to make the stitching more tolerable… If this wasn’t so sudden, I would have given him a sedative however, I didn’t have that chance.” She explained softly as she rinsed her hands once more before asking a guard to open her satchel again, “Inside my satchel, in the smallest pocket to the right is a spool of fishing twine and in the pocket next to it is a sowing needle… I want you to pull me off about a foot of twine and place both the needle and the thread in the remainder of the water with the herbal mixture to help sterilize the tools. Leave them there and I”ll remove them.” she instructed as the tiefling did this she allowed them to sit for a short time while Legion finished cleaning out the wound. Once he was done she removed the twine and the needle, quickly attaching the twine to the needle and then began to bend the metal, it was a flimsy metal and once heated by the still-hot water it made the task quite easy. With it now curved, Alyana began stitching up the wound, first with the inner tissue wall and then the outer wall. “I’m going to leave a small opening here at the base of the wound to allow it to drain… since the wound is so deep if it’s not allowed to drain it’ll fill with fluid that could turn into an infection,” she explained. Stepping back she examined her work before taking a sterilized rag and dipping it in some of the herbal water to remove some of the bloodstains from the animal’s fur. “It’s done.” She said before rubbing her brow, she’d never had to do a surgery nothing of that size anyways and from where she stood the stitching looked nice and neat, it was obvious her mother taught her well. “Make sure to tell the elven woman that she’s not to let the animal do much other than stand in its stall. And she must keep the stag in clean bedding at all times… He shouldn’t be ridden for at least two weeks minimum.” giving her last bits of information, she hoped they’d relay this information to the stags rider. Now, that she was confident that the job was done she looked to Legion and smiled at him, blood had managed to get on her face as well as the rest of her outfit. “Thank you for lending a hand, you were a wonderful assistant.” She thanked him as she gave him a warm smile with her gem-like eyes. The woman hadn’t realized she said anything about the rider being an elf or a woman.

Fraeya

Fraeya had her gaze hardened as she eyed the guard, at first she was speaking in her elven, obviously, the poor tiefling had not a clue of what she was saying. However, her speaking stopped when David flew into the room, that’s right they couldn’t speak her native language, “I want to see my son and I want to see my stag!” She strongly demanded as she stood there trying to stabilize herself against the bedframe. “I’ll sit down when my son is in my arms.” She told him plainly her brows scrunched, clearly, she wasn’t about to back down, hurt or not… A mother’s love ran deep and she wanted him this instant so she could see with her own eyes that he was fine. “And my stag, I won’t be happy until I get to see him to!” She stated she the king placed his hand on her shoulder causing her voice to soften a bit. About that time a hellish cry from an animal echoed through her room from the slightly open window, it was a stags bellow causing the woman’s eyes to fly to David. If she wasn’t in the shape she was currently in she would waltz right down the hall and down the stairs until she found the stables or where ever her stag was being kept. “If I find my stag has been butchered I’ll never let you rest easy again.” she murmured through her pain, Clearly, she wasn’t in the shape to make such threats, however, to any onlooker it would have been quite comical. She wore a half-hearted fierce expression, showing she didn’t mean a word of it, she just really wanted to see her kin. “Please… At least bring me my son.” she finally backed down as she sat at the foot of the bed before flopping down backward to show him she wasn’t going anywhere.

Yumeia

As the door opened and Toma was asked who she was, upon him claiming her as his daughter caused Yumeia to quickly tap her little hooves out of happiness. She loved hearing him say such a thing and also hearing the man announce it made it even better. Once they were ushered inside, the young girl smiled as she glanced around the castle hold her own basket of baked goods, “It’s really pretty in her papa.” she murmured still beaming with a smile. However, her smile somewhat dropped as she heard some kids playing deeper within the castle which intrigued her.

Tarjinn

Heat sensors continuing to scan the trees, amber pupils narrowed to slits as he moved, the world became silent around him as he went step by step through the forest. His hearing was only for his prey, the sustenance he would provide to Esme and Suu. Once he moved a decent distance from where the squirrel was previously, he crouched lower into a bush and looked around the area. Birds still chirped and leaves still waved in the wind, meaning his scent was rolling off of him in the opposite direction. It was a prime hour to hunt. He twirled the dagger silently in his palm, feeling every smooth surface and tiny nick in the surface of the hilt. Crafted from pure eucalyptus regnan tree cork and engraved with diamond steel, the group of daggers were light and lethal for any last minute attacks or swift, silent escapes. They just so happened to be wonderful for small animal hunting too. Living in a mountainous tribe meant meat was scarce and little beyond the towering clan walls, loners and rogues often falling prey to the unforgiving weather and environment the ridges gave. The ocassional hare or mouse was the best it got, and even then those were lucky. Here, in a lush forest off the side of a little used road, there was much more opportunity. A bundle of ferns rustled nearby, and Tarjinn’s eyes flashed over to see a brown rabbit emerge, hopping forward a few steps with ears poised for listening before crouching down and grazing at the fine grasses under its toes. A healthy creature, its fur was sheen and eyes bright and alert. It was unlikely to hold any passing disease or ailments, a prime snack for a dragonborn like him. Sucking in a quiet breath, he let it out in one sharp whistle, ice swarming the creature’s feet and freezing it for only a moment as his dagger flung through the air, piercing the animal’s side into its heart and leaving it dead on the ground in an instant. The tension in his body faded with the success as he stood, no longer worrying about the animals around him as he walked over to investigate. Ice fading from its little feet, the prey was fresh and warm as he bent down, taking his dagger from its body and splitting it easily to remove the less needed organs and bury them with the excess blood. Those organs would provide nutrients to the soil and allow for continued growth of the wonderful trees and foliage he was surrounded with. Satisfied with his work, the dragonborn held the rabbit by its back feet and made his way back to his family, smile upon his face and pocketing the now cleaned dagger into its sheath.

Kilrune

Kilrune was stunned by her response, staring for a second at her. What? Sharing him? She completely misheard what he meant, and he wasn’t sure why. He thought that was a fairly good tease. No wonder she said she was the one who teased. He was thankful however that she was still moving away, smirk appearing back on her face as she tried to get out of his path. Commenting on a ring, she flashed away, and he grinned once more before giving chase. The tile floors made it difficult to get traction, but once he did he sped after her up the stairs, gripping the turnout and swiveling quickly to rush up the steps. It wasn’t until they reached the top that he reached out to grab her, arms coming around her middle and laughing before he lost his footing and ended up on his back, her still in his arms above him. He continued to laugh out of pure shock, frosty breath exiting his maw with the action. It took a minute for him to finally settle, teeth glimmering in a grin. “You know,” he breathed as he caught his breath, “if you keep running away, I’ll never reach your hand to even put a ring on it!”

Legion

Immediately after he spoke, Alyana was giving him orders and he rushed to get the supplies, coming back and doing every task she requested. He watched her with an intrigued gaze, studying every action she did and every material she used to fully excavate the wound and seal it along with the work he provided. It was truly an amazing scene seeing her act so swiftly and quickly to help the animal who was suffering. With the amount of wood removed from his leg, he could only imagine what that felt like to be lodged in his own limb. He would be in a tremendous amount of pain for sure. Now that there was a healer around who was trained in the art of medicine and surgery, there would be much less worry about serious cases that came along from the royal court and beyond. Once all of her supplies were put aside and the ninjas began to move the stag to a fresher stall and bring in pillows and blankets for support from nearby, Legion’s eyes bore into Alyana’s once she was gazing back at him. He still felt the admiration through his veins, wanting her to continue to show her strength. But she looked tired, a bit winded from the sudden onset surgery she had to perform to save the steed’s life. However, when she spoke of the elven woman, he couldn’t help but frown. Nobody had spoken of an elven woman, and there were none she could have been referring to nearby. Had it coincided with her glazed eyes, whatever she saw when her hand touched the deer? Keeping these things secret was only driving him more and more insane. He would think about that later, though. For now, he needed to get her back inside to be cleaned and inform David of all that had happened. Alyana’s voice was soothing as she finally spoke to him, complimenting him on his work. His tail end curled in pride, and he couldn’t help but smile a bit. “Anything to help you save a life,” he murmured, bowing his head in respect for her work before lifting it, finally noticing the blood still on her face and hands. “Let us get you inside, I will find those river plants for you while you talk to David about the stag’s care. I do not know if he has been informed of its arrival, though even if he has, you saved its life. He should hear of it, especially as he is considering you for the royal healer title.” Looking around, he grabbed a clean cloth left behind and dipped it in some of the cooling water, ringing out most of the liquid before handing it to her and standing to his feet swiftly. “The stablehands will take care of the mess and keep a close eye on the deer. Do not worry for now, now that he is resting and better than he was before.”

Quote :

David

Before David could even begin to talk to the woman about everything that had happened, her firey words flew from her mouth to him, demanding to see her son and mount. Her eyes gleamed radiant with determination to find them, face flushed and hands clenched. The rest had provided her the burst of energy to take care of her stead, her small family, while she was awake. David wasn’t really sure what to do while she shouted and commanded things to him and the distressed tiefling guard. The cry of the stag from the stables didn’t help either, and the threat she threw in his face was quite the feat, even if he knew she didn’t mean it. It was actually overall amusing to him, to see the passion radiating off of her. She obviously cared very much about those with her, which he was thankful for. He was not worried in the slightest, and as he put his hands in his pockets, he watched her finally calm down before flopping down on the bed, exhaling a breath. Chuckling softly, he had to try and not laugh louder than he already was. “Everything is alright, my lady,” he mused. “Your stag is getting his wounds treated in the stables and will be resting there until further notice. And your son has been with me this entire time and is now resting. If you stay here, I will bring him to you. But moving around and getting up will not help your leg heal.” Leaning down, he pressed the back of his hand to her forehead. “Hmm. You still have a bit of a fever. I’m certain that’s just from everything that just happened however. Rest here, that’s an order from your king.” Smiling, he walked from the room into the next and over to the crib where the tiefling baby slept, picking him up and wrapping him in a Folgarian blanket before bringing him back to his mother who was worried sick about him, almost literally. “He is doing alright, I promise.” He bent down and handed the boy over, still smiling in amusement over everything. The woman certainly packed a punch despite what she had gone through, though he was certain that is what got her to where she was today. “We have been watching over him and your stag since you have slept, and have been well protected yourself. You’re all safe here.” Dismissing the guard from the room once and for all, he pulled up a nearby chair and sat down next to her cot.

Toma

Toma’s heart thudded with pure joy as Yumeia called him “papa”, something he never thought he’d hear from her or any other child. Though calling her his daughter was initially for show so the staff could keep them together and not question their together arrival, he couldn’t help but wonder if Yumi would be up to staying with him. After all, she visited so frequently that he couldn’t imagine not protecting her or providing for her. Smiling down at her, he took her basket to release her of her burden. “It is very pretty Yumi,” he replied. “Now, be on your best behavior, just like I’ve taught you when buyers come in the shop, okay? We want to be able to come back and visit again.” As the butler finally gestured for him to follow Kochab as he appeared at the bottom of the stairs, two little boys raced out from a nearby hallway, shouting and swinging wooden swords at each other.

“Raaaaawwr!” The little half-orc roared behind the swift ocelot kitten, swinging his sword wildly to hit him as the cat bounded just out of reach, tail taunting him. “You can’t run away from me, mister thief! I am a ninja of Folgario and I demand you to stop!”

“Well I demand you to stop! Stop chasing me!” The ocelot clad in all black attire raced atop the furniture, occasionally turning around to whack the other boy’s sword before rushing off again, black eye mask making his dark eyes blend with the fabric. They two laughed and hollered, each determined to outwit the other despite knowing each other’s tricks and maneuvers.

Esme

Pushing those thoughts to the back of her mind, she began to wonder if Tarjinn was alright, he’d been gone for quite some time it seemed. In her moment of worry, Esme pulled her eyes from Suu and the fire to look towards the forest. She hoped the Dragonborn would be within eyeshot, however, that wasn’t the case as of yet. Sighing softly, she returned her hues to the fire and the cub bounding about in the tall grass. “Stay close Suu.” Esme kindly reminded her before standing from her resting spot to slid the partly cooked animal closer to the flames. While she waited, she began to hum a lullaby of the cat folk to herself trying to keep her mind of all the worries she had rolling about in between her ears. As she was focused on the fire, Suu let out one hell of a scream, causing Esme to jolt and looked up, “Suu!?” She called out worried for the child before she began racing towards her. The lynx cub had wandered quite a ways from their little resting sight, her eyes were glued on something just over the hillside. “Suu I asked you not to go wandering off!” Esme began to scold her until she too paused beside the child now seeing what she had. With her jaw-dropping she quickly covered the child’s eyes, at the base of the hill, were bodies of a mixture of beast folk, all dead from the looks of it. Their clothing was of rags and from where the Snow Leopard stood, their wrists looked to have had irons on them… clearly, these people were slaves at one point before being discarded in the meadow. Judging by the mild smell up until now, they were probably dumped out here today. “Suu… stay close to me and don’t you dare leave my sight.” She warned her sternly before starting down the side of the hill.

“E-Esme you-you’re going down there?” the girl stammered clearly shaken from the discovery. “Yes… I can’t just witness this and not make sure they are all… dead.” She struggled to say the appropriate words. “Sh-Should I go get Tarjinn?” Suu asked as she held onto Esme’s tail. “N-No, I’d rather you stay close to me instead of going off on your own,” she told her as she slowly continued down the hillside he feline claws keeping traction on the grassy slope. Once at the bottom, the buzzing of flies began to become more noticeable, as well as, the pungent scent of body odor and decay. Holding Suu’s hand now, Esme made sure she wasn’t walking off on her own, not knowing who the slave owners were or whether they were coming back or not worried the leopard…There were too many bodies for it to have been a single-family to have owned them… it had to be a lord or duke or someone of high stature. Coming to the first body it seemed the person was a hybrid of sorts. They seemed to be of a cat-folk bloodline, as well as, possibly tiefling and maybe a sort of canine breed as well? It was hard to tell given the state their body was in. Crouching down, the woman pressed her fingers to the individual’s neck to check for a pulse… Waiting a few moments she was sad to find there was nothing. Sighing she went to the next, and then the next. All of them so far had been dead, there had to be ten bodies down here, she hoped at least one would still be hanging in there…

Suu was holding back tears at this point, “Are they all...?” She began to ask before a noise caught both their attentions, it was a pain-filled groan. Quickly, the snow leopard jumped to her feet looking around the area she tried to spot who it was that was alive, however, what she saw confused her. At the mouth of the ditch, there was a horse laying on it’s side. Watching the animal as it seemed to breathe shallowly, Esme continued towards it. Maybe it’s rider was trapped underneath it… Or maybe it was one of the slave drivers trapped under his own horse... Being nearly to the creature’s side, she paused, worried that maybe her initial thought was true. However, that thought faded away as she heard another painfilled groan and what seemed to be a murmur of “help.” Quickly, the woman raced over to the horse, only to see that it wasn’t a horse at all… Looking at the creature with wide eyes, she didn’t know what to make of it, what the hell kind of a being was this? Pushing her questions aside she quickly motioned for Suu to stay back. Walking around to where the odd creature could see her, she watched as his eyes widened before a sigh of relief seemed to leave his lips. Unlike the other slaves, he wore nothing aside from a brand on his shoulder. His hair, or maybe she should call it mane, was in a tattered long mess. If it were brushed and well kept she could honestly say it would probably fall to the middle of the human part of his back if not further down. “S-Sir?” Esme stammered, “I want to help you but… I need to know who did this and if they are returning… Seeing as there are so many beast folk down in this ditch I don’t want to risk my cubs safety.” She told him knowing he probably wouldn’t be able to say much, he was in terrible pain after all. How was she going to get a horseman upon his feet, or should she say hooves? Looking at him, he was nearly skin and bones aside from the muscle he had from working as a slave. As Esme examined what she was dealing with, she heard the man begin to mutter something, “W-w-at-” at first she thought he was asking her to clarify what she was saying before, however, watching his human hands motion for something to drink she quickly pulled her water cantine out of the satchel she still had on her. Luckily, there was still quite a bit of water in the container. Giving it to the man she quickly began to look him over, he had whip wounds on his back... Rather it was all over him… some were rather deep as well.

Once he’d gotten his drink, the man cleared his throat before coughing and struggling to breathe, “T-Th-They’ll come back…” The man managed to say, his voice was deep but horse and rather dry sounding, “Then we need to get you out of here… I’ve already checked everyone else… You’re the only one alive.” Having informed him of this, the centaur had sucked in a pained breath, however, it wasn’t from his own pain... It was because of the pain he now felt in his heart. “I’m sorry.” Esme murmured, she could sympathize with him about losing those he was close too and loved, she knew that pain all too well. Finally, the man nodded, forcing back the emotional pain he felt, “I’ll help you up but we must hurry if they will be returning... Whoever they are.” she said as she quickly took hold of his human hands and began helping pull him to his hooves. The man’s hands were covered in sweat and his wrists were bloody from wrist irons. Esme couldn’t help but feel sorry for him, one of her worst fears was becoming someone’s slave… the world was a dark and cruel place and it seemed beast folk were at the center of it. Tugging on her horseman, the fellow tried to get his feet underneath him, grunting as he tried to get himself up but to no avail. He was tired, and Esme was too weak on her own to hoist up a thousand-pound man… if he weighed even that. “Please don’t give up..” She told him as she pulled a bit of fabric from her satchel to rub the blood and sweat off his brow. “Once my fiance gets here he for sure will be able to get you on your feet… We can all get out of here,” she told him, trying to lift the man’s spirits.

Giving her a small forced smile he tried to show his admiration and appreciation, however, he couldn’t see two cat-folk and their child being able to get him on his feet… let alone help him up the side of the hill. If he could shift, that would be different, but he couldn’t not in this shape. “G-Go… Ge-get your family out of here.” He whispered, unable to speak any louder. Coughing he covered his mouth before taking another drink from the Snow Leopards cantine. However, seeing the fire in the woman’s eyes, his simple suggestion wasn’t an option. “Look… You can’t get me up… Not you or your feline husband.” He began to get a bit snappy with her, he for one did not want to see this kind-hearted soul and her cub to get taken into slavery… that wasn’t what he wanted to witness last before dying himself. About that time, Esme took hold of his hands once again causing him to drop the cantine and began to tug. The look of determination had gotten more intense and from the looks of her ears… she’d heard something in the distance. “Their coming…” He thought silently to himself as he too began trying even harder to get up. He could damn near hear his heart beating in his ears, he wasn’t going to let the leopard and cub duo go down that path. Finally, getting his front hooves under him, Suu rushed behind him and began pushing on his hindquarters to help him get his back feet up. “C-Come on!” Suu’s little voice strained as she pushed on him with all her might. Fear, was now in Esme’s eyes, they were getting closer… the slavers and they needed to hurry. “TARJINN!” Esme screamed loudly, as she continued to pull on the centaur’s arms. Her feet now covered in muck from the moisture the trench collected. It sounded as though the men on horseback were coming from the forest on the opposite side of their resting spot, she prayed Tarjinn would get there before the slave drivers did. “Suu, run! Go to Tarjinn and show him where I am, tell him quickly what’s going on, now hurry!” She demanded the child run, at least one of them would get out of there alive and free if it came to that.

Quickly, Suu did as she was told with tears in her little hues. Darting up the side of the hill she quickly ran for their campfire and hopefully straight to Tarjinn. The entire way she cried out the Dragonborn’s name, her little ears pinned flat to her head and her little nub of a tail held tight to her body.

Ailani Kilrune’s Phoenix

Feeling his large arms wrap around her, Ailani squealed loudly before erupting with laughter. She thought she was well on her way to locking herself in one of the upstairs rooms, ready to tease him through a crack in the door but unfortunately for her, Kilrune had managed to catch her right at the top of the stairs. However, all in that same moment Kilrune had lost his footing, pulling the two of them to the hardwood flooring. Of course, this sudden fall only caused the woman’s laughter to intensify, she was almost unable to breathe she was laughing so much. “A-Are you alright?” She managed to ask as her amusement continued to plague her. However as he caught his breath and calmed his chuckles, so did she, her fading to a few giggles here and there, “Oh? It seems like you caught me just fine.” she teased him as she rolled over to face him. Though she’d never say it out loud, she felt that Kilrune didn’t understand the meaning of a ring or marriage for that matter, he’d probably never ask for her hand in marriage anyways. Smiling at him from where she lay beside him she gave him a gentle kiss the soon flowed smoothly into a bit more passionate one. Pushing herself away from him with that fleeting notion, she grinned at him before sticking her tongue out and jumping up to her feet, “Now, if you don’t mind... .this filthy woman needs a bath. Don’t suppose you’d like to help me with that hmmm?” she teased once more as she stepped away from him and let down her hair as she did, pulling the ribbon from her black curly hair.

Looking around, he grabbed a clean cloth left behind and dipped it in some of the cooling water, ringing out most of the liquid before handing it to her and standing to his feet swiftly. “The stablehands will take care of the mess and keep a close eye on the deer. Do not worry for now, now that he is resting and better than he was before.”

Seeing the normally stoic man smile caused the young woman to smile and blush as he spoke. She could tell just from the tone of his voice he was proud of her and maybe even had quite a bit of admiration for her now, she what she’s really capable of. “Thank you,” She quickly thanked him for going on ahead to gather the last herbal plant they needed to fully kill the poisonous vines within the garden. Though she became a bit nervous, she thought Legion would be with her to be her witness, having him beside her always made her feel more confident in herself and capabilities. As he stepped away from her side, she watched the tiefling grab something before dipping it in clean water. As he returned he handed her the damp cloth, “Oh, I’m probably quite a mess huh.” She murmured as she dipped her head thanking him before gently dabbing it against her forehead, careful not to rub in case her stain would fade. Once she felt her face was clean she then began to work gently on her hands. “Thank you again, I will do my best not to worry about the stag… So, do elves normally come through this area? It’s not often you see a rare white stag decorated in golden armor at least not without it’s rider that is.” She told him, clearly knowing something about the elven people. She probably knew more about the elves then she did any other race aside from what little she learned about the tieflings she grew up with. “Generally, those decorated in gold are of a high standing family… if I dind’t know any better I’d say royalty even… “ She conitnued to think about the stag before pushing it all to the back of her mind. She needed to worry about getting cleaned up and talking to David first, after all, he needed to know about the animals well being.

Fraeya

Hearing his muffled laughter, Fraeya tried to keep herself calm as she laid there on the bed. She knew she was making a fool of herself but she couldn’t shake the feeling of anxiety she felt without having her son and her stag at her side. Looking at him with a sideways glance she sighed and averted her gaze, she seemed possibly embarrassed but it was hard to tell given her stone-cold expression. “Are you one hundred percent sure that they are perfectly fine?” She asked crossing her arms over her chest from where she lay. “That scream my stag gave out sounded pretty questionable.” She stated before shooting her golden hues back towards him if looks could kill her would have at that moment. Of course, that that time he let her know the stag was being treated for any wounds it received at the river. Sighing she felt a pain in her chest, she worried he was worse off then herself… she knew Eldrin had taken the hardest hit to the log jam and sharp rocks… “Yes… please bring my son at least. I’ll stay here on the bed until you return.” She told the king. Yet at that moment, she didn’t expect him to begin leaning down towards her causing her once calm and collected face to shoot to a ruby red coloration. Fraeya hadn’t had a man, let alone a handsome king like David suddenly put their face so close to her own. As she tried to regain her composure before he could notice, she listened to him state she still had a fever. This nearly didn’t surprise her, she did take a rough ride down an icy river in the late fall… it was bound to happen. As he left she eased herself up into a sitting position and slowly began scooting herself back up towards the head of the bed so she could rest her back against the headboard. Sitting there silently, she waited until David finally returned with her son wrapped in a navy blue blanket. Taking his little frame within her arms she smiled down at him as his little eyes began to open from his nap. Instantly the child began to coo and wiggle within the smooth fabric. “Mommy’s here Inarie…” She whispered to him softly as she gently brushed some of his white hair out of his little tiefling face and kissed his forehead. The child features looking nothing like the elf aside from his silky white hair, however, that was how it was supposed to be, she didn’t give birth to him after all. Sitting there gazing at her child she’d almost forgotten David was in the room. Bringing her golden gaze up to him she smiled, “Thank you for keeping my son safe, as well as, my stag, I was sure he’d developed a cold but… Tieflings seem to be quite sturdy even infant ones.” she said with a small chuckle trailing as she felt the boy now playing with long locks of hair. Returning her attention to the boy she allowed the blanket to fall from around him while he giggled and waved his little arms about playfully. Before long the boy had noticed David in the room, recognizing him he quickly began to reach out to him wanting to include the man in the bit of fun he was managing to have.

Yumeia

Having the basket lifted from her arms she gave her father a quick nod of understanding before slowly walking around to admire the scenery within the castle, still curious about where the playful sounds were coming from. That is until the children she could hear made themselves visible to her. With her eyes full of curiosity and that eagerness to play too, Yumeia patiently watched the boys bound around the room playing “Ninja and thief” Swinging their wooden swords. Getting a little to swept up in the fun herself, Yumeia began to cheer for the Ninja Gaurd, “Don’t let him get away, catch him catch him!” She said as she started to come toward them, bouncing in place and giggling. Yet, the child paused realizing these kids weren’t like her, they were royals and they probably didn’t want to play with a street rat like herself.

Tarjinn

Making his way back to the campsite, the white dragonborn breathed in the crisp air, feet crunching once again on fallen leaves and the crackling of the fire just up ahead. He was glad for the rest, he hadn’t been able to be close enough to Esme or Suu while riding and sitting with them for a while would be a treat to indulge in. However, once he pushed through some foliage and came back into their small campsite, the space was abandoned. “Esme? Suu?” he called, setting his rabbit by the fire and scanning the surroundings for their heat marks. But when he saw claw marks in the dirt and their fading trail off into the trees, his heart began to thunder in his chest. One of them had taken off in a hurry, was something nearby? Panic rose within him as he began to follow the trail, but he was stopped in his tracks as he heard someone scream his name from beyond. He recognized it immediately as Esme’s voice. Entire body jolting, he burst ahead, yanking the sword from his hip and charging to wherever she was coming from. Whatever had his Esme would be taking its last breaths. Racing and weaving through the trees, he tried to keep track of her heat path when suddenly a smaller figure came racing towards him, calling his name in a weeping voice. He hardly had time to comprehend the situation as Suu burst out from beyond, tears coating her furry cheeks and ears pinned against her head. “Suu!” he cried, running up to lift her onto his hip with one arm, sword ready in the other. He didn’t have time to hear any explanation as he picked up speed to where she had come from. It wasn’t long before the ground was rumbling underneath him and they came upon a hill, the rank smell of death looming nearby. He could have gagged if it wasn’t for the adrenaline pumping through his veins. Scanning the valley, he found Esme struggling to pull up a hybrid of a horse. There was no time for questions when he knew something large approached, the rumbling of the ground giving only a moment’s notice before the army or beast would be upon them. “ESME!” he roared, running down the hill and using his claws to avoid tripping as he raced to her. He was not about to have her or Suu become one of the dead. The creature she was helping seemed to be the last one alive. He stepped over corpses one by one to get to her, pushing away tears that formed at the corners of his eyes. When he was finally in front of her, he pulled her away from the horse creature and summoned his spirit horse, tossing Suu onto its back and pushing his fiance up onto its back as well. “Run back to the campsite, and don’t look back!” he shouted over the thundering approach of the beyond, slapping the horse’s rear to send it careening back to the hill and the campsite beyond. Turning to the creature, he had little time to ask questions. Esme wanted him alive, and so he would keep him alive too.

“You’re going to follow me, and you’re not going to complain,” Tarjinn said loudly, pulling the rope from his shoulder and waist to wrap around the horse’s body, right behind his forelegs. Summoning his second and last horse, he hopped on before tugging at the rope swiftly to get the male onto his feet. “Use your strength and follow! I will keep you upright if it’s the last thing I do!” Keeping the rope taut, the dragonborn kicked his horse into action, pulling against the weight of the other despite it not being much. The hybrid was weak, but had enough strength to stand halfway upon his arrival. Surely he could keep alive until they got back to camp, where he and Esme could protect him. It was difficult to half-drag a creature with only rope, but Tarjinn had pulled much heavier weights behind him in his youth. “Come on, we need to get to safety!” His steed struggled to climb the hill, but kicked its hooves into the soil to drag its burdens up to the top where the trees would more easily hide them. Tarjinn prayed to Bahamut and even Savitr that they would make it safely to the campsite and that none of those who were coming to the valley would have the capabilities to follow them easily.

Kilrune

Kilrune grinned at her incessant giggles, glad to see she was so amused by everything. It made him laugh alongside her, and as she turned to face him, he kissed around her face with delight. “I’m okay, I’m okay! I’ve done worse,” he teased, before returning the kiss she gave. She was such a wonderful woman that he couldn’t get enough of. Content just laying on the floor with her, she was soon out of his arms and up onto her feet, a sly gaze in her eyes as she pulled the ribborn from her hair. Watching her raven locks cascade down was one heck of a sight no matter when she did it. And when she offered him to join her bath, he couldn’t say no to that. Getting to his own feet, he grinned once more and put his hands on his waist. “If I ever refuse, get the crossbow from downstairs and shoot me. Let’s get down to business.”
~And we leave them be~

Legion

Commenting on her appearance, Alyana began to dab the damp cloth on her face, which confused Legion only slightly. The blood was fresh, but it should be rubbed off or scrubbed to get it away from her skin, mouth, and eyes as quickly as possible to reduce any infection passed from the stag to her. He always washed instantly after hunting to remove all residue from the animals he brought back, and he would think as a healer she would understand the importance of strong hygiene. However, he was not about to question the woman. She just saved an animal’s life, whatever she was used to he would let her do. He was not in command of her abilities, nor her personal care. Once her face was clean, he extended his hand down to help her stand to her feet which likely ached from being on the ground and watched her clean her hands next, the same gentle movements as on her face. Was her skin sensitive? He had not gotten that impression from her earlier, but they would not have shared such things in the past while. She was pulling up so many questions to answer. It even included her knowledge of the elves, her eyes scanning the armor of the steed that was now being pulled from his body to give him fresh air to his fur and remove the sweat and blood caught underneath. “Royalty? I cannot say that elves traverse this kingdom very frequently, if at all. They are revolted by our tiefling population and keep their distance, often finding alternate routes around Folgario to avoid it unless necessary. We deal with far too many people who think it is their duty to insult us and our king for our decisions and the people we care for. But we give them kindness, and we build them paths to avoid us. I do not know why an elven stag would be here, but I do know that we may be in for a hell-risen elf royal that will be peeved at our kind.” Snorting, he lashed his tail to emphasize his point, but it rested soon thereafter. “David may know of it though, perhaps doing a good deed to gain even ground with the elves. He is far too kind for his own good, and it will trap him one day. But if it helps Folgario, then so be it. We just need to discover what it is that is going on.” Turning fully to face her, he bowed, the tip of his tail curled. “I will be off to find those plants and return as swiftly as possible. One of the stablehands would be pleased to escort you to David. And I say escort only because it is a large castle, not to keep you bound to their side. They will leave you to yourself once you know you have your way to him.” He hoped he could bring these plants back, perhaps bring them roots and all so they could be grown closer to the castle. If the vines ever came back, they would need a quicker solution rather than allowing fate to choose who approached it. It was of dire importance that it be taken care of once and for all. Walking to his horse, who whinied happily at his arrival, he stepped inside to tack Stallion to head out to the riverbanks.

David

The man did not answer her questions about the wellbeing of her son and stag, if only because she was able to see that her son was in perfect condition with no fear of his new surroundings. He was a father, he knew what it was like to be apart from your child and fret over their safety. But he wanted to show her that she was safe, and so was her little family. She would not be harmed while she was here for refuge. The only matter to solve now was how long she would be staying in the castle, and where she would be staying in Folgario. Likely the castle village, if only to keep her nearby, but he would need to discuss with Legion and the council about the details such as those. Smiling at the two, he rested a hand on his thigh and observed them. It was possible Fraeya was the tiefling’s mother, with their shared hair and all, but he did not seem to look like her otherwise, and she came from another kingdom. He was not sure why an elf like her would willingly tie herself to a tiefling mate, or be running from a serious situation that likely involved the little one in her arms. Elves and tieflings were well-known rivals, a war David himself had been trying to break by whatever means he could find. So far though, there was little progress. At least until Fraeya and Inarie entered the picture. Here was a mother who so loved her son, or adoptive son, whichever it may be, that race did not impact their relationship. It was a sight he had not seen since his wife was here, despite how roughly that relationship ended. He loved his son to the ends of the universe and back again even with his race being mixed with one that was not common nor well received. He could sympathize with the family in front of him, and he wanted to help in whatever way he could. As he watched, the mother commented on her son’s sturdy nature through the whole ordeal, and he chuckled softly. “Tieflings are affected more by overheating, actually,” he murmured with a smile, wanting to keep his voice down so Inarie was not frightened or startled by any loud noises or by David himself. “They are very tough in cold environments, hence why many tieflings thrive here in our colder region. In very warm or hot environments, especially humid ones, they suffer from overheating, exhaustion, and lethargy. I like to think that it is because they are human enough to distinguish themselves against the demons that people like to picture them as. They struggle just as much as we do, and need protecting.” The little boy turned his attention to him, and he smiled wider as he extended a hand for him to play with. “I’m sorry, I don’t mean to stand on a soapbox here. I am one of the strongest advocates for tiefling wellbeing and survival, so I want to make it clear that we will treat Inarie with as much respect as any other member of our kingdom. I know others outside these walls will do many things to rid their race from this world, but I find many joys in having them in Folgario and anywhere else.”

Kliff and Fenrinn

Laughing with glee, Fenrinn chased after the “fiend” waving his sword, suddenly hearing cheering behind him. He looked back to see a little girl encouraging him to catch the thief. He was so surprised by her appearance that he ran straight into the couch, letting out a small squeak of shock and plopping down on his butt. Kliff laughed loudly at his fall, beginning to run further away. “You can’t catch me!” the cat taunted. Determined not to fail, the half-orc boy lifted himself to his feet and charged at the other boy, who was shocked still by the sudden change and Fen leapt onto him, the two tumbling in a heap of limbs and swords onto the ground as they wrestled, laughing and hollering all the way until Fenrinn sat on top of his friend, beaming with pride. “I won! I got you, mister thief! Now off to prison you go!” “Hey, no fair, you’re heavy!” Kliff moaned, but once he was released he was still grinning away. The two knew better than to truly bicker. Now both on their feet, their attention was turned to the girl. The boys looked at each other curiously, before they walked over with their swords. Fenrinn didn’t know what to say, but Kliff had far more confidence in the social field.

“Hi! I’m Kliff!” he introduced. “Do you wanna play ninja and thief with us? You can be the thief!” He then realized what that could sound like to a girl like her, and his face went red. “I-I mean, the ninja! Fenrinn and I can be the thieves! Sorry!” He hoped no adult overheard him, he really didn’t mean to say that! He was just so used to being the thief that handing that role to anyone else was what he normally did. Everyone liked being the thief, it was fun to run away! “Y-You can take my sword if you want too!” Extending it out to her, Fen just gazed at her in silence, standing by his friend who did the talking for him.

Turning to the creature, he had little time to ask questions. Esme wanted him alive, and so he would keep him alive too.

Summoning his second and last horse, he hopped on before tugging at the rope swiftly to get the male onto his feet. “Use your strength and follow! Tarjinn prayed to Bahamut and even Savitr that they would make it safely to the campsite and that none of those who were coming to the valley would have the capabilities to follow them easily.

After darting past a few trees and nearly to the clearing, Suu’s tear filled eyes landed on the white dragonborn she was hoping to find, “Tarjinn!!” She cried as he quickly swept her up in his arms. All the way to Esme she tried to explain through her tears but it was no use, if he could hear her through the breeze rushing past them he wouldn’t be able to understand her through her blubbering.

In no time, Tarjinn had found Esme rushing down the slope into the death filled trench, the Dragonborn quickly got Suu on his horse, as well as, Esme. Being hoisted up on the animal she wanted to explain to him however, there was obviously no time for that. With a swift smack to the horses rear, Tarjinn sent the two cat-folk towards camp, the horses digging their hooves roughly into the loose soil and grass. At first, she was worried Tarjinn would think more of them and less of the horseman, feeling their lives were more valuable, yet she knew him better than that. In his eyes and in Bahamut’s all lives mattered, it was the same for Savitar as well.

Before he had much time to take in the commotion flying over the hill, he was sure it was the slave drivers. However, to his surprise, it wasn’t… it was… well, what the hell was it?! With eyes somewhat wide he looked at the Snow Leopard and then at the beast - folk darting down the slope. Before she could tell him anything, the lizard man scooped her and the child up and put them both on the same horse before sending them on their way. He was sure he was going to be left there to die after he’d found some bit of hope. However, he thought wrong, the white tailless lizard of sorts quickly pulled a rope from his bag and began looping it around his forelegs… this wasn’t going to be pleasant, he just knew he was going to come out with more burns yet this time it would be on his underside. “Oh dear lord have mercy on my being, please… I’ve suffered enough” He prayed silently to himself before nodding to the creature and heaving himself onto his own legs as the thing had his horse pull him up and out of the mud. Soon, the two of them were making the climb up the grassy slope, however, with how little strength he still had, climbing such an incline was quite difficult. Grunting and heaving as he went, his horsetail flipping from side to side, the male centaur did his best to help himself out of the situation he was in.

Finally, once they were out of the ditch he exhaled sharply but knew he couldn’t relax yet… He had to manage to run to where ever their camp was to get to safety… if that was even at a safe enough distance… He could only hope. Before long, the two of them were running through the forest, the stranger’s hooves beating heavily against the ground as he did his best to stay upright and not fall from exhaustion. He couldn’t believe it… in all his life he never would have thought he’d be this close to freedom If only his family was this lucky… Before long, they had made it to a small campfire where the Leopard and her cub were quickly packing up most of their things. Slowing to a halt the man struggled to keep himself up on his feet, all he wanted to do was collapse on the ground. Standing there he heaved for air as his entire body quivered.

Seeing them arrive, Esme quickly ran over to Tarjinn, “Thank the gods you got him out of there!” She said as she quickly rushed over and gave her Dragonborn a quick kiss as he dismounted. Now Pulling her attention from her fiance she looked at the beast before her, still wheezing for air. Grabbing her cantine she quickly handed it to him, “Do you have a name?” She asked curiously before looking to Tarjinn, “Suu had taken off while I was dealing with the fire… She found the trench with the bodies… I believe they are all slaves given the looks of them and their clothes. I want to sit and relax, however… being so close to that dumping sight I don’t think its wise for us to stay.” She told him of her worries as she waited for the horse to catch his breath. Taking another drink of the cantine, the man coughed and sighed feeling a bit more relief now that his thurst had finally been quenched. “You’re right to be worried… They were coming back with more bodies, and creatures to help get rid of them as well.” He told them before taking another quick drink of the water. “My names Mordecai… And all those slaves including myself are from a kingdom called Clevertune… It neighbors Mellowfork but needless to say, neither of those kingdoms are good news…Clevertune doesn’t dump its slaves in it’s own lands… after all, all of them are too full and it’s polluting the air. So they’ve started dumping the bodies in other lands as long as they can get away with it.” He felt himself rambling so he took another drink and looked back towards the forest they just came out of. “It’s probably best we move on… I’ll do my best to keep up. I’ll tell you more as we move… I don’t feel like going back to that hell hole.”

Ailani Kilrune’s Phoenix

After some time in the bath together, they finally had both bathed among other things before finally emerging from the room. Attempting to dry her wet hair, Ailani hummed to herself, pleased and amused with the day’s events so far. Glancing over her shoulder back at her Dragonborn she smirked, “Hmm, I’m warn out would you do the laundry?” She couldn’t help herself as she grinned ear to ear looking back at him still drying her air little by little with a towel. However, while she was drying her hair, her smiled faded as a sickening feeling rolled over her, causing her to drop the towel she was using to dry her curly locks with.

Looking at him as he helped her stand and began question what she’d laid before him she shook her head, “Then I don’t understand why one with such a rare stag and high ranking armor would be here and wounded then… Something must have happened that forced them to come here.” She watched as he lashed his tail against the floor expressing the hellfire they were probably going to receive from the elves in due time. However, given what she saw, she had a feeling it wouldn’t be that way but she could be wrong… after all, what she saw was a mere snippet of what could have happened. Nodding her head to his next statement, she fully agreed with him. Soon Legion was off and he’d left her with a guard to show her to David, “I’d like to clean up properly first, wait outside my room please.” She told him before quickly making her way back into the castle, the guard tailing her as he should.

Once to her room she quickly rushed to her bathroom and began to bath, scrubbing the filth from her skin and freeing herself from any possible illness or infection she could pick up from the blood of the stag. About ten to twenty minutes later she was rest and ready to see David. Heading out her door, the Gaurd took the lead, helping her to the king like Legion had asked him to. As quickly as the two could walk, they finally made it to the medical wing, At first, she wanted to question why he was there, however, it was obvious to her it was for the elven woman she’d seen in her vision. Traveling to the back of the wing, the guard paused at the door which, David was behind. “Thank you.” She said to her escort before knocking on the door to be polite before stepping in to see her King.

Fraeya

Listening to the man chuckle she realized she didn’t know much about Tieflings, but that wasn’t surprising. Generally, all Elven people were known for their distaste for Tieflings or at least the conflict they held with them. However, she knew her birth kingdom did not hold any grudges against the creatures. They were probably the only ones that did accept and see the tieflings for beings that deserved to live and live freely. Which, in turn, caused the kingdom to struggle with the neighboring elven societies, as well as, those outside of the elven kingdoms. Which was why she had to be married off to the General of Heethaes… He hated Tiefling with a passion and so did his King and Queen, having ties with them was the only way E’slond would get recognized and build it’s self up once more. However, Fraeya didn’t see that as the only way her kingdom could rise from the ashes... Surly knowing that Folgario was growing and surviving, her people could too. Being pulled from her deep thoughts she nodded head to acknowledge she as still listening, “I see, being fond of Tieflings myself I never had the time to read about them… Its wonderful to meet someone that knows so much about them.” She praised him giving him a gentle smile as her golden eyes softened on him and her son who was still giggling and reaching out towards him taking hold of his larger fingers and holding them firmly as his little hands could. As David began to apologize, the elven woman shook her head slowly, a gentle smile on her lips, “No, I enjoy listening and learning about Tieflings, especially when I know so little about them. I am after all trying to raise one” She chuckled as she watched her little boy begin to naw on the mans hand “I’d also like to thank you for everything you do for them… There are to many that see tiefling as demonic beings when in reality they are not… their just as innocent and kind as the rest of us start out to be and slowly we are molded into who we are as we get older… And In my experience, just because something has horns or antlers does not make it a demon… You’d think the elves would see this as a unit but unfortunately, they do not.” noticing the child drooling all over him in the process. “Forgive him.” She chuckled, “he’s been chewing a lot more lately I’m assuming he’s starting to teeth though I haven’t noticed any actual teeth coming in yet… after all, he’s still quite young.” She informed him, feeling a bit embarrassed from her boy’s actions. “I found him, tucked away in some tall grass in the forest while I was out for a ride. He was maybe an hour old from the looks of him,” she explained how she came across the boy. “I search for his mother but I never found her… I was worried the Guards to the manner had already found her so, knowing my husband, at the time, wouldn’t harm the child as long as I had him… I protected him.” Sighing she stroked the child’s head before continuing, “That only worked for so long… My husband decided he wasn’t happy being married to a E’slond Princess and preferred another whom he’d been having affairs within the castle. I caught wind of a plan he had to end my life, as well as, the child’s, so I decided the best course of action was to leave.” She decided now was as best a time as any to fill him in on why she was there, why she’d traveled to Folgario. “I would have tried to get back to my homeland but, Folgario was closer and I had heard that your kingdom was kind to Tieflings… I couldn’t risk traveling home when a safer solution was only about a few weeks ride away.” Having everything out in the open now, she hoped her and David could discuss things on a more formal basis, she needed to contact her kingdom and try and sort this ordeal out… and have a trial for General Raegal for his crimes against her and her people the tiefling people.

Yumeia

Giggling as she watched them, Yumeia realized she’d caught the orc’s attention causing him to run smack dab into the back of the couch. “A-Are you okay?!” She called out to him worried at first but before she could get an answer he had swiftly taken off after his feline friend. Following them so she could continue to have a good view of them playing, she watched as the Orc boy leaped on the ocelot cub causing them both to topple to the floor in a ball of flailing arms and toy weapons. Continuing to watch, giggling as she stood back and let them enjoy their fun, the boys rolled about and grumbled with each other playfully until they both finally stood up. Now, their attention was turn to her causing the girl’s cheeks to redden, she wasn’t used to being the center of attention.

Between the two boys, the first to bound over to her was the ocelot cub, his feline tail swaying behind him as he made it up to her, “I-I’m Yumeia, It’s nice to meet you Kliff. “ She introduced herself after he had. “Sure!” She was very happy to accept his offer to play with them, however, after he had said she could be the thief the boy seemed to blush and take back the idea and offer to let her be a Ninja instead. “It’s okay, I can be the thief.” She told him smiling as her own tail swayed behind her. “Unless you’d rather me play a Ninja.” She wanted them to know she would enjoy either roll no matter what it seemed to imply, she simply wanted to have fun that was all. Looking over to the Orc boy she smiled at him before asking, “What’s your name?” She tilted her head with curiously seeing as though he seemed to be shy. With her head slightly tilted her little antler buds stuck out a bit more from her hair. She felt it would be rude not knowing her other playmate’s name, so she felt it was the right thing to do.

Tarjinn

Breathing out a loud sigh of relief once he saw the fire up ahead, Tarjinn slowed his horse and made both mounts vanish, landing comfortably on the ground. His eyes widened just a bit as his fiance rushed up to him, kissing him for hardly any time at all before focussing on their new guest. His cheeks flushed pink and he focused on starting to make a spit for the rabbit to cook it quickly alongside the other rodent. That was the first time they’d ever kissed one another - it was quite a sensation. Even in the midst of this new situation they would have to escape, he knew that moment would stay in his head until he could sit privately with Esme and they could share a longer one, call it their official one perhaps. They’d put it off for long enough at this point, and they were engaged. Looking up from the fire, he noticed that Suu was still trying to recover from the sudden trauma, taking in shaky breaths and ears still pinned to her head. He reached over and pulled her into his arms, sitting on the ground with crossed legs and placing her in his lap to wrap his arms around her, rocking her back and forth as he listened to Esme explain. The lynx kitten shouldn’t have run off, especially after being told many times to stay close, but she helped save a life. It didn’t change the fact that she would need to be closely monitored now while they were near the army from Clevertune, but at least they were able to bring back someone among the dead. He agreed that staying in the area would only be worse for them, and getting to the next village would benefit the horse hybrid creature as they could get him medical attention and rest. Would the male be staying with them for the remainder of their journey? “Thank you for informing us,” he replied to Mordecai, bowing his head. “I would refrain from any graphic language around our kitten, but I appreciate you letting us know everything despite what you went through. We will do what we can to support you. We are on our way to Esme’s kingdom, to help defend her people and are rallying able men and women to join the fight. If you are strong enough to follow us, I think you would be a great ally to our cause. You would be able to fight back against those that have wronged people like you and countless others who prey on those less fortunate.” Looking down to Suu, he kissed the top of her soft head and wiped the tears that still stained her cheeks before his amber gaze was back to the horse-man. “We can share what we have on the prairie dog and rabbit and be on our way. I have food you can eat while we travel so you can get your strength up, and we can try to purchase a wagon for you to rest in on our way if you need it. I do not want you straining after all you’ve likely gone through.”

Kilrune

Kilrune felt like he was floating on air after exiting the warm bathroom, drying off each part of his body as he smiled over at Ailani, now drying off her much more curly hair. He wouldn’t mind doing that far more often, especially when it came to their fire. She teased him about the laundry and he laughed, rolling his eyes playfully. “Fine, fine, I’ll do the laundry. But only because you’ve done other things.” Continuing to dry himself, he paused when she dropped the towel she held, looking ill very suddenly. His senses went on full alert as he gazed at her, stepping forward. “Hey, you okay?” He picked up her towel and held it in front of his chest, concern washing over his expression. “You don’t look well all of a sudden, everything alright?” He hoped it wasn’t anything he had done; he highly doubted it, but it worried him all the same. He never liked seeing her anything but happy. Anything but happy was not his phoenix.

Legion

With Stallion tacked up and ready to ride, the tiefling mounted his steed and headed out of the stable out to the wilderness beyond. Keeping in mind what Alyana spoke about the plant, he kept an eye out for it as he rode just in case it appeared anywhere before the riverbanks. This was a crucial plant, something that could prevent the staff of the castle from being wounded or killed. This was his top priority at the moment, even before informing David about the new elven stag - that was up to Alyana to accomplish. Now that he was alone in his trek to the river, his mind began to wander about the week past. He realized just how much time he had been spending with the healer, watching her work and assisting her in setting up the medical suite as well as preparing her salves and ointments for any sudden injuries. Not only that, but their personal conversations had varied widely in topic and subject, often straying into territories he did not normally discuss. It was just easier, he supposed, to talk to someone of his kind that had such a heart for the people she cared for. It was the largest thing they had in common, their passion to take care of those below them. For that, he gave her all the respect in the world. Hopefully, when he came back, the two could discuss the elven visitors and come up with a continuing plan for the stag as well as what to do in terms of elven medicine and how to combat whatever prejudices may arise towards him or the healer. If Alyana was to be hurt or threatened by this elf, if that’s who had arrived, he would not tolerate the person one bit and would toss them onto the dirt roads, David’s word be damned. Alyana would not be hurt by some imbecile who thought they were better than a woman who dedicated their life to everyone around her.

Quote :

David

David continued to smile, very grateful that the woman was now calm and easier to communicate with. He wasn’t sure what he would do if she was still in a rage, demanding to leave the room to see her stag or outright refusing him to take care of her son from that moment forth. Of course, David didn’t plan on becoming the baby’s secondary caretaker, but he would appreciate being able to keep tabs on both of them so he could ensure their treatment was being taken care of. The elf woman thanked him for his passion for the tieflings, and he nodded to agree with her. Tieflings were abused for their appearance despite them being some of the bravest and most passionate creatures that walked the planet. They were fierce warriors and would defend their family and homeland to the end if need be, with such passion for their mates and families that was unending. He admired them in everything they did. “It is unfortunate they have lost those valuable members who could give them so much more strength and glory. But, it makes places like Folgario treasured, because of our treatment and sanctuary for tieflings and anyone else that is mistreated. We all protect one another, and that has worked well to keep enemies far from our borders for years.” Glancing down as his hand felt slimy, he couldn’t help but laugh just a bit as his fingers in Inarie’s mouth, him knawing with his gums and drooling over his hand. “It’s a feeding response, he’s probably hungry. My son was the same way when he was a baby, always wanting to eat. His teeth grew in quick, scaring the heck out of me when I would think he still had gums and a tooth pierced my hand. I still have a scar from it actually,” he mused, “but it’s currently being occupied.” Letting the boy continue, he listened to his mother explain his origin. Such a sad way to begin life, being abandoned in the woods like a stray animal. It would be impossible to find his true parents and ask why they left their baby stranded. He was a bit surprised to hear she had a husband, but did not comment on it. He hoped there was nothing worse between them, nothing serious that he would have to intervene. More legal matters on top of everything already would just create a mess he didn’t need. With the venemous vines in the garden to the elven woman and her baby tiefling, he had enough on his plate already. Hearing she was a princess on top of that was truly shocking, especially to see what had happened to her and the journey she made just to get here. She was such a strong woman to travel this far, baby in tow, and still survive the river trying to do her husband’s job for him. The woman didn’t deserve to have as many enemies as she did, not if this was how she truly was. “I am truly sorry for all you have gone through,” he murmured, a small frown upon his face. “Nobody deserves to go through so much turmoil. But like I said before, you and Inarie are safe here. Your lives are not threatened in these walls. We have a strong army unit that will reign havoc on anyone who dares to threaten or harm our citizens, even our smallest. And as king, I will do whatever it takes to help you feel comfortable and detached from harm in any sense I can, including legally. We will make this right for you.” Looking down at her son, he realized that the boy did need sustenance, and being adopted meant that Fraeya did not have anything to give. Thinking for a moment, he pondered what could be done when there were knocks at the door and the appearance of his healer Alyana in the doorway. Pulling away from the two, he smiled over at her and gestured for her to enter. “Alyana, it’s wonderful to see you,” he greeted, grabbing a cloth to wipe the drool off his fingers. “This is Lady Fraeya, she will be here a while. I’ll need you to tend to her leg wound after a while, I’ve cleaned and bandaged it as best I can but I know you’re more experienced with it all.” Standing, he cleared his throat to look between the two women. “Lady Fraeya, this is Alyana, in training to be our royal court healer and medic. If you fear anything regarding your injuries, she is the one to ask.” His attention was drawn back to the tiefling hybrid, smiling. “What can I do for you?”

Face still red, Kliff scratched the back of his head with a nervous grin. “Heh, okay! The thief is fun, you have more of a head start. We just have to get you a costume, if you come back! I can ask my mommy to make you one.” Making sure she had the sword, he realized he didn’t have one of his own and would be vulnerable to being targeted by his friend. “I’m gonna go grab another sword, be back in a sec!” Bolting off with his cat speed, he raced up the stairs to his and Fenrinn’s play room to grab the other weapon.

Being addressed by the newcomer was one terrifying thing, but having Kliff completely leave for a minute was even moreso. Trying not to tremble, the half-orc boy tumbled with his sword and avoided eye contact with the girl as much as possible. “I-I’m F-Fenrinn,” he mumbled, swalowing. “P-Prince Fenrinn, i-it’s nice to meet you, um?” He glanced at her for only a second, wanting to know the name to call her properly. He had no idea where she came from, as maybe she was a new staff child, but it was nice to have another kid his age around.

Esme

Being suddenly pulled into the Dragonborn’s arms caused Suu’s little eyes to shoot to him as they bubbled with large crocodile tears. As he wrapped his arms around her, she hid her face in his dragon chest, hiding her eyes from the world around her as she tried to smother the memories she gained that day. Being as young as she was she had never seen that many people dead and discarded in a ditch. And even the dead she did see before that… there wasn’t much to see other than the burnt remains of the wagon and supplies. She really should have listened to Esme and not gone that far from their resting spot… though, she was happy they found at least one living person… and he was quite an interesting one too. Peaking from where she’d hid her face, she wanted to get a better look at the animal or man thing before them. She loved horses and she didn’t have a problem with humans either. Looking at him, she noticed that though his hair was matted in sections with mud and other bits of rubbish, it seemed his actual hair color was black. And given his horse body, he was a brown and black mixture with white socks that went to about his ankles in the front and in the back they looked to go about to his knee however on one side more on the inner part of his thigh the white traveled up to his stomach. She could only assume from where she sat that his tail was also black like his head hair. After getting her good look at the weak and wounded man of sorts she quickly hid her head in Tarjinn’s chest again allowing him to rock her back and forth for comfort.

Having given Tarjinn a swift kiss to show him how elated and relieved she was, Esme quickly began explaining and then speaking to the hybrid of sorts before her. During their quick conversation, they learned that his name was Mordecai and he was, in fact, a slave as she’d suspected. Tarjinn agreed that staying at this small campsite wasn’t the best choice if they all wanted to stay safe.  Nodding his head, his tattered hair bobbing with it, “No, thank you for saving my life, it’s the least I can do to keep the rest of you safe as well.” of course he was then scolded in the gentlest of ways, however, the man understood and he chuckled a bit embarrassed from his slip up, “My apologies! I forgot there was a child in our presence.” he told him as he started to rub his neck however stoped as a bit of pain radiated up his back from the sudden movement of his arms. “It won’t happen again.” He told them, his face showing his remorse for such a mishap. Falling silent and listening to the lizard explain their own travel plans, Mordecai nodded his head understanding now why the couple was setting out on such a journey before winter. “Ah, Tarshious is it?” He question, clearly having heard of the countries struggles during his time in Cleverton. “I’ve heard of the war going on there… Mostly from slave drivers snickering over it, you can imagine what they’ve been thinking given all the beast folk that will be misplaced due to the war.” he shared what little he’d heard before nodding his head, “Though I’m weak now… a little on the thin side, I know in due time I”ll be in fighting shape… If I can help prevent more people from becoming slaves I’ll do whatever it takes.” he happily accepted the man’s proposal to follow them. “And until I can help provide for the group, I’d be most obliged to take any bits of a meal I can…. And though ha wagon sounds nice, I wouldn’t want to be more of an expense than necessary. I’ll be fine to travel as the steads do, that’s what I’m built for after all.”  About that time, the Centaur had noticed the little Lynx eyeing him as she received a soft kiss from the lizard, which caused the man to chuckle, “I don't suppose the three of you know exactly what I am... Do you?” He asked them as he slowly crossed his arms over his chest trying to keep from causing himself any more pain. Having been standing for a while, he felt he could finally lay down and not worry about struggling to stand back up. So, Mordecai dropped his front legs down to a nealing position before allowing his hindquarters to follow. Once he was finally on the ground he sighed, relieved to be off his sore legs and resting. From where he laid he couldn’t hear the rumbling of the slavers on their horses and the wheels of the wagons turning… though that didn’t mean they hadn’t already stopped at the trench… What if there were more that managed to get out a live like himself?

While the group sat at their fire, the slavers had arrived at their current dumping place. “And you’re sure all of them were dead upon dumping… correct?” the head of the operation asked as his eyes rolled over the bodies below. “Yes, sir… Some I even ran through myself after dropping just to make sure.” he chuckled before getting a hellish glare from the man above him, “Some you say?... Need I remind you we must know for sure all are dead.. And if they are not they are to be left laying until they can pick themselves up and be put back to work.” he snapped, “And must I also remind you that we’ve been getting word that some of our prisoners are crawling out of these ditches and spreading the word about Cleverton and Mellowforks doings! Now get these bodies off this cart and release the scavengers! I want to get out of here before any guards from this place happen to be patrolling. HURRY!” He snapped before cracking his little horsewhip on his thigh, causing the velvet purpler material he wore to shift in color. Fixing his fancy hat, complete with a black feather, he huffed before walking back to his comfortable seat within his horse-drawn carriage.

At his playful response, she didn’t react as quickly to answer it. Putting a hand to her forehead she stood there for a moment before forcing a smile to help the male worry less. “Mhm..., I was probably outside much too long today... Colder temperatures don’t suite a fire wielder all that well.” She reassured him with a soft chuckle as she gently took the towel from his hand. “If it’s anything it’s probably the starts of a small cold.” She told him as she rolled her eyes before tossing the towel over his head. “I’ll go rest for now, I’ll be better in no time, Don’t worry,” she told him not only trying to convince him but herself as well. She didn’t want him going out of the way to get the doctor that was just a headache she didn’t want. She had a pretty good idea what he was already anyways, she just didn’t want to worry him with it until she knew for sure.

Alyana

Seeing David and the Elf she’d seen from her vision she stepped into the room and smiled at her king and his guests. Noticing the Tiefling child in the woman’s arms, she realized the crying she could hear was of the infant. Everything was coming together now that she was there before those who’d shown up. “It’s wonderful to see you as well  King David.” She greeted him with the utmost respect in front of his guest, refraining from simply calling him David. “It’s nice to meet you  as well, Lady Fraeya.” Greeting the elven lady she then nodded her head to David upon him giving his request. “Very well, I would also like to report that the Stag’s injuries have been cleaned and sewn shut. He had quite a large piece of wood broken off inside him, running along his fourth rib but I managed to get it and any remanence out with only the original opening with a slight width increase.” She informed them of the important details of the surgery before anything else. “He will be resting for the next two weeks at the very least, Lady Fraeya. And from the looks of your leg from over here given the bandage size, I would say you’ll be resting for just as long.” She told her warmly before stepping closer to get a better look at her wound. Sitting on the bed she looked directly at the woman’s wrapped leg, guessing from the slight swelling how large the area was. “I’ll let you rest a bit longer before putting you through any more pain... I’m sure the wound will weep so I’ll be replacing your bandages every six hours. After about the first week we will be able to lesson the dressing changes to about twice daily unless it’s healing process doesn’t improve. I have faith that your wounds will heal nicely though.” Looking up at Fraeya, her gem-like eyes gazing at her, the elf’s jaw nearly dropped. Quickly Ayana averted her gaze, did she know just from seeing her eyes? With her heart racing she stood up from the bed, “I’ll go get some supplies from next door.. sit tight.” She said quickly before exiting the room.

Fraeya

“I wish my kingdom seen it as that… they’re so worried about appearances it’s maddening. They do not want to lose the support of their own kind for the support of many others. I think part of it is the fear of what will happen to loved ones from our kingdom living in neighboring countries, however, I’m sure that’s only a snippet of their concerns. There is also the trade roots and resources we can not obtain or grow in our own land. ” Laying there with her child in her lap and the King seated at her side, her mind began to wonder... what if, given that King David of Folgario saved her very life, the two of them could convince her kingdom to reconsider certain treaties and step out of their comfort zone and onto a new path where they become allies of Folgario. She could only hope her father would understand and trust why she left her husband as the truth and not jump to other conclusions. Being pulled from her thoughts, David told her Inarie’s little gnawing habit was because he was hungry. “I lost most of my supplies in the river, his milk was in my bag.” She sighed realizing now what all got swept away. Luckily, she was in Folgario and she was sure they could find some sort of milk for the child to eat. Though she was worried about the boy she found it a bit surprising the king had a son, yet no wife or at least she was assuming he didn’t give his hand was lacking a ring... Upon listening further it seemed the boy wasn’t fully human he was a hybrid, not wanting to pry she kept her thoughts to herself but she did wonder what happened to the mother, had she died during childbirth or did she leave him or maybe she was overthinking everything and the woman was still there in the castle just attending to more pressing matters. That had to be so… what woman in her right mind would leave a kind king like him? Soon the man began musing over his memories of his own son and his gnawing habits as an infant, she couldn’t help but smile at that. He was obviously a wonderful father as well as a king, “Don’t be, I’m sure the gods laid my path for a reason.” She told him, believing full well that such a thing was done by those above the clouds. “Thank you, for everything.” She bowed her head showing her appreciation for the king and all that he was doing for her now and what he planned to do for her in the future. As they were about to discuss matters further there was a knock at the door and soon in the doorway, a young woman stood. She seemed to have freshly bathed before coming, her dark complexion seemed to be damp and reflecting radiantly in the suns light as well as her dusty colored hair, it almost looked as though it was unnatural but with how healthy her locks of hair looked she didn’t question it any further ‘Thank you for caring for him.. I’ll do well not to attempt to rid for the next few weeks.” she told her as she watched the young woman come towards her. However, when the girl sat gently on the bed after her introduction, Fraeya took noticed of her eyes. Being too taken back by the crystal-like hues, she realized the girl wasn’t who she was posing to be… she was something greater. As Ayana looked up at her with her warm smile and gaze, the elf was finally able to get a good look at her eyes just as the sun caught them making the small fractals within glisten like a gem stone. She couldn’t believe it, with her jaw nearly dropping, the elven princess had to suppress the urge to say her findings out loud. Maybe it was a secret, or maybe David had no idea what he had living within his castle, within his kingdom. And she knew if anyone outside of it found out, King David’s kingdom would become the center point of attention. Parting her lips, she wanted to cover up her surprise expression with an apology and say she thought she knew her from somewhere, but Fraeya didn’t get that chance… Alyana had quickly jumped up from her place on the bed and started out the door, saying she needed to gather some supplies from the next room over. Realizing she was leaning forward, the elven woman leaned her back against the headboard once more and gave David a smile, “I hope I didn’t scare her… I thought she was someone else.” She managed to lie rather smoothly.

Watching the feline boy scamper off she nodded her head, quickly answering before he got too far away, “Okay!” She called smiling, she was super excited to be able to play with other kids for once not to mention kids that lived in King David’s castle. Turning her hues to the other boy he seemed rather nervous… was she making him uncomfortable? Yumeia watched him silently for a moment as he thumbed his sword keeping his eyes only on the toy and not looking at his company. When he began introducing himself she felt her cheeks get hot, he was the prince?! Feeling nervous herself now, she realized he hadn’t caught her name when she and Kliff had introduced themselves. “M-My names Y- Yumeia I’m the … Um... the town baker’s daughter... “ She managed to say as she twisted and turned her little hoof against the floor a bit anxiously. What if, what if he wouldn’t want to play with her now knowing she was a villager? She hadn’t seen the boys before now, however, she wasn’t surprised given where she lived in town, rather she slept in the remains of her destroyed house until recently… not to mention she often stole from others to survive until she met Toma.

Elmira

With the other staff rushing around her gathering ingredients for the evening’s meal. Elmira took her place in a wooden chair off in the corner of the kitchen to get her list of ingredients for the solstice celebration to take place in less than two weeks. “Do we have all the apples, peaches, cherries, and snowberries ordered?” She asked one of her passing employees. “Yes, Chef Elmira, they should arrive two days before the ball.” The young woman quickly answered before getting to work on the dessert for the night. “Wonderful, and all the herbs I asked for have been picked and hung to dry?” Another member of her staff nodded their head quickly, “Yes!” Smiling rather pleased with their work thus far, the woman stood to her feet to quickly check the main course for dinner. Peaking in the stone oven, she could see the rabbits were cooking rather nicely. Grabbing a large wooden paddle, she pulled the trays out and quickly added a bit of fruit juice to each of them, to help sweeten the meat before carefully sliding it back into the ovens and returning to her list. “And what about the main courses? Have all the pigs been bought from the farmers, what about the turkeys and quail? Have hunting trips been organized to gather them?” she asked as she tapped her quill feather against a nearby table. “Well?” She didn’t get a response like all the other times, “These are the main course items we can’t dally with these!” She smacked the table getting the girl’s attention. “Well, ma’am… we haven’t been able to get a hunting group together… we were hoping someone within the village would have the turkeys and quail… however, we haven’t been able to properly check yet.” Sighing softly Elmira rubbed her temples before nodding her head in understanding. “Fine, I’ll be sure to ask the villagers to organize a few hunts before the celebration… maybe even our king will partake in the excitement with his grand adviser.” She mused at the thought, even kings and their right-hand men needed some time to clear their minds and focus on something other than work. “Carry on, I have a guest arriving any time now, I trust all of you can have dinner ready in time?” She questioned them before they all nodded with warm expressions happy to be allowed the opportunity to work freely. Dusting her apron off, removing the flower and other debris from cooking off of herself she quickly walked to the wall she often hung it up on to prepare herself for her guest, she was excited to meet the man who often made her favorite sweets and bread, not to mention having his help with the event this year, it would save her a lot of trouble and it brought the villagers closer to the castle she felt.

Tarjinn

Tarjinn listened carefully to the horse hybrid creature, continuing to rock the kitten in his arms and stroke the furs of her arm as she curled against him. The poor girl had seen beyond what she should have been exposed to, and he only hoped he could rid those memories for good eventually. She did not deserve to have her day tainted with the sight of death, nor did he or anyone else in their small tandem. At least she seemed interested in their guest, sneaking a look over at him before burying her head into his chest. He didn’t blame her for being frightened or confused. Listening to the man, he was surprised that he knew of Tarshious and the war, though that was likely Tarjinn’s fault for living in a smaller town. He had traveled across many lands, but Tarshious was still unfamiliar to him. It wouldn’t be for long if he was marrying Esme however. Stroking Suu’s soft head, he smiled as Mordecai agreed to partake in their mission and journey to offer his services under Esme’s flag. He couldn’t think of a better outcome for this dire of a situation they were all placed in. “Wonderful, we are very pleased to have you join us. I promise it will be worth your while and your strength.” Standing to his feet carefully, he held his kitten on his hip with one arm as he walked to his horse, pulling out some of the dried meat and fruit he had saved to bring over to the hybrid. The man was so tall that he did not have to hardly bend down to hand the items over with a smile. “This is what I can ration to you until we reach the next village. I cannot say that I know what you are, nor what your eating habits are…” He chuckled softly as he seated himself a few feet away from the man, placing his back against a tree and glancing to the fire to check on the prairie dog and rabbit. They would likely be done soon. “But we will accommodate you however we can. We are all in this together, and therefore we will stick out for each other.”

Concern still spead across his face, the dragonborn watched his phoenix carefully as she spoke. Was she truly okay, and was it truly the weather? Only a couple weeks ago were Suu and Rorran ill, though surely Ailani had not caught whatever poison they had been given? The festival was long gone with the caravan and the drinks were investigated and destroyed if they were foul. Maybe he had fed her some old meat that was not settling well, he really had no idea what could be causing her to suddenly turn for sickness. Digging too deep into his guilt, he was stunned when a damp towel suddenly plopped on his head, catching on his horns. It shocked him right out of his mind that when he took off the towel, he could focus more on his lover than his own faults. She needed his care more than his apologies if any were even needed. At least they had a good time together before she had fallen under the weather so quickly. “Even if it is just a small cold, I want to ensure I’m doing everything I can for you. Do you need tea, a warm towel, some steaming water to help warm you? We can go right back into the bathroom if that helps.” If she was only ill outside of that room, he wouldn’t mind going back in to keep her well.

David

Beaming still at Alyana’s arrival, he nodded in approval of her greeting despite rather being called by first name. This guest of theirs was nobility, and therefore should be treated as such and other nobility and royalty around her should be named with their title. It was the polite way to play the court game. After his greeting, the healer began to explain in detail what the stag’s injury was and how she cured it. He had to refrain from recoiling at imagining the wood lodged where it was. If it was in his own horse, he would likely have collapsed from dread of it ending her life. He could only imagine the terror it would have been for Fraeya to lose to the steed that brought her here to her safety and refuge. The tiefling hybrid then sat on the bed with the woman, beginning to evaluate the wound without removing the bandage and making her professional opinion clear. She truly knew what she was doing, and was experienced in all medicine, even surgical procedures. It was such an admiring set of knowledge to have that he couldn’t help but glow in pride. She was a blessing to Folgario and everyone within it, and little by little they would see how wonderful she had been just in the short time she was here. Before he could even thank her though or ask any more questions, the woman was off, fleeing to the next room to grab supplies like she said. He wasn’t really sure what to say for a moment, standing and blinking to gather his thoughts before deciding that sitting down was the best choice for him. Fraeya commented that she may have scared the woman, but David only chuckled. “No, I think there are worse things than you to be afraid of,” he mused with a wink, before leaning back in his chair and resting his hands on his knees. “Now that we know your prognosis, I would like to extend an offer of staying in the castle until your wound is deemed satisfactory by Miss Alyana,” he spoke with a soft smile to Fraeya. “I have bedrooms down here in a guest wing, I can see to it that you are given one while you recover. Some of my staff will begin to prepare a home for you in the village, so you can be under royal protection and can be in direct contact with them if anything goes awry later on. I trust in the abilities of my royal guard stationed there and can assure your utmost safety both in the castle and out of it, including Inarie. While you are here, I would be glad to teach you what I know of tieflings or have some of my guards come to speak with you about any questions you have. Some have children of their own and would be glad to share tips or advice with you about raising your son properly. Of course, you are free to raise him as you choose - you are his mother now, after all. I only offer it as you are my guest, and want you to be treated as fairly as any other guest I house here in my abode.”

Kliff and Fenrinn

Continuing to fumble with his weapon, Fenrinn’s face was red and he hardly knew what to say. He wasn’t use to girls his age, and neither was Kliff. But his best friend just knew what to say, probably because he liked to talk to everyone he met. “Y-Yumeia? H-Hi,” he mumbled meekly, eyes to the floor. “B-Bakers are nice, I like bread,” he said even softer. What would his father say? Perhaps knowing his reponses would help make his own. “Do you-do you live in the castle village?” His eyes lifted to meet hers for a few seconds, before darting away in embarrassment. “U-Usually we have people come from the village to-to visit and share their things with my dad, he-he likes to buy the stuff they bring. Did you bring bread?” He wondered if the girl would let him have any. Bread was a treat he didn’t often get to have, and it was so hard to find the right kinds that often he refused to eat it at all. But when there was a perfect loaf, he couldn’t deny second or third servings. Especially with roasted lamb or goat meat sliced on top, then it was perfect.

Toma

Following the cat man to the kitchen, Toma couldn’t help but see the small irony in having a cat man lead him anywhere. He was a vulpine, a fox, a distant relative of the canines so rarely seen anywhere but as stray dogs. It was comforting though to be lead by someone with fur. Arms full of three baskets of bread, Kochab and him discussed many things about the castle pleasantly as they walked. The man was unsurprisingly social, seeing as he was the ambassador of the kingdom, but it was still comforting to see a friendly face as the staff member showing him the way. Approaching the kitchen hall, delicious smells of an assortment of meals came wafting to the hallway. Rabbit and herbs, spices and citrus, an assortment so divine it made his mouth water. Perhaps coming to talk about food was a bad choice - he had pudge already and did not need any extra pounds. Upon finally arriving to the entrance to the kitchen, Kochab stepped forward, hands (or paws?) folded behind his back. “Chef Elmira, Toma Sarramoux has arrived with your delivery!” he called with a smile, waving to the woman before looking to the fox beside him. “She will be right with you. If you need anything else, don’t hesitate to ask anyone!” Grinning, he pranced off on his way, tail bouncing behind him as he walked. Toma simply stood in awe, watching everyone work so efficiently and prepare the meals expertly. He couldn’t even imagine working in such a space, if only because bread was all he knew. It was a shame he didn’t pursue a higher purpose, but he was just happy to offer his services to the royal court in any way he could. Being close to the king and his trusted staff was a blessing all on its own for a young vulpine baker like him.

Esme/Suu/Mordecai

Feeling Tarjinn’s hand gently rub against her fur, Suu kept her head pressed against his chest, trying to forget what burdened her mind. However, though her eyes were turned from those speaking she listened to what was being said, as well as, what noises laid in the distance.

Having been in the process of laying down when Tarjinn replied, Mordecai hadn’t caught the man’s surprise. “I can’t imagine it not being. Saving lives and families from being torn apart it always worth my while.” The man smiled, he had a heart of gold and felt strongly for those who were at risk for becoming slaves or losing their homes and loved ones, he knew how that felt after all. After a short while, Tarjinn stood from his resting place holding the kitten in his arms and walked over to his horse. Rummaging through his saddlebag he pulled out some carefully wrapped dried goods. Smiling at the man he nodded his head in thanks, “I appreciated this greatly… I haven’t had anything that looks so delicious in quite some time.” he managed to say as he fought back from drooling. Taking the items from his scaly hands kindly he nodded his head again before quickly filling his stomach, saving some for the road. Granted he felt rude for eating so quickly but he was nearly starved to death. Swallowing down a mouth full of fruit, the man chuckled, “I’m a centaur… there’s not many of us around anymore… back in the day, my kind use to travel the plains and forests. We lived as tribes and generally didn’t bother outsiders.” he began explaining as he bit into a piece of jerky. “However, those days are long gone… I’d be surprised if we end up finding a single tribe of centaur during our journey, let alone any in the cities living free lives…Most have been dragged into slavery, the lucky ones died before they got to that point, most likely.” he murmured the morbid thought to save the kits’ ears. Though this is what Mordecai thought, he was wrong and would soon find there were more centaurs like himself living in cities they were just… “hidden”.

Chuckling, the horseman nodded his head, “I didn’t expect any of you to know what I was… Honestly, I was shocked your bride was so quick to help a strange creature like myself. At first, I was sure she was one of the slaves who survived. “And not to worry, we centaur generally eat both meat and fruit and the like. Our stomachs can handle most all foods.” he shared knowing that had to be a bit of a relief. He knew if they had to buy only fruit and vegetables for him it would become quite expensive. As silence fell between them, the smell of the cooking rabbit and prairie dog filled the man’s nose, he’d already ate plenty of his rations and needed to refrain from eating anymore until they were at the village.

Sitting there silently listening Esme was also shocked he’d heard about Tarshious, but maybe she shouldn’t have been. Beast folk slaves were still quite common in the larger cities and some times even in small villages, her caravan was always diligent to steer clear of such cities… Yet, to get to where they were going… they would have to pass through many a village and city that still held beast folk captive.

As the man strutted to his comfortable carriage, he took his place inside to watch all the bodies get another look over while the rest of them were being disposed of further up the trench. It was about that time, the man spotted a disturbed area in the grass up ahead. Letting out a squeal of distaste the fancy prude kicked open his carriage door and began leaving his comforts behind. “Look here! What is this I see, hmmm?!” He snapped his voice cracking as he did. “The dirt and grass is tattered as if something crawled out of here, you idiots!” He shouted. “Boss, I highly dought anything left the ditch alive… it- it was probably dragged out just look at the way the ground is! It was probably one of those Perytons! They love to feast on human and animal flesh!” the man pleaded all the while the man standing above him all dressed in purple wasn’t convinced. “YOU BETTER HOPE THE SLAVE IS DEAD! OR YOU ALL WILL BE IN SLAVERY YOURSELVES!” stomping back to his carriage one last time he paused before flipping a look back at the men, “BETTER YET!” he shouted once more before putting one heel in front of the other foot and spinning around his eyes bright with anger, “How about the two of you get your sorry asses out there and LOOK. FOR. THE. SLAVE!” again his naturally high pitched voice cracked. Fanning himself with his free and tapping his hip with his whip he quickly marched back to his perch before motion with the whip for the scavengers to be release.

Ailani Kilrune’s Phoenix

Hearing his concern’s only caused the ill woman to smile at him, “Warm tea would be nice… “ she told him as she started walking for their room. At this time she was doing everything in her power not to throw up, she didn’t want him knowing she felt this ill either. That’s all she needed was him panicking and running out the door to get the doctor. She knew what was wrong, or at least she had a pretty good idea, she’d seen Esme’s mother pregnant before, how ill she became and certain foods caused the woman to wretch. She really hoped it was just a cold though, they weren’t ready for a family yet… he hardly knew who she was… How could they raise a child when they weren’t being completely open with one another… rather she wasn’t.

Alyana

Entering the medical supply room, Alyana pressed her back against the door and exhale softly, careful not to grab any attention from anyone who may be in there. Surely the woman was just surprised by her vast amounts of knowledge given her age…. Right? Yet, no matter how much the young woman tried to soothe her worried mind she couldn’t shake the elf’s eyes from her mind. Her golden hues burning themselves into her brain… she knew something… didn’t she. Shaking her head in silence, she quickly walked around the room gathering gauze, medical ointments which were premade only a day or so prior, and some pain relieving sauve and powders. Lastly, Alyana made sure to grab a curved needle and sewing thread incase there happened to be reason for her to reopen the wound and clean it more thoroughly. However, she was sure David had done an excellent job. With her arms full, she stepped to a desk that held baskets and bags to carry items quickly from the supply room. Gently placing each item within a bag she quickly made her way back over to the room which house Lady Fraeya and her king David. “Forgive me for my sudden exit.” She quickly apologized, “I felt I should get my things ready and take a better look at your wound.” She told them, however, it was partly a lie. Fraeya had startled her and from that, the young lady couldn’t bring her eyes to meet the elves.

Quote :
Fraeya

Listening to the man who saved her she nodded her head in acceptance of his words, though a smile rose on her lips at his wink. If it were a different topic they were on she may have blushed from it, by the gods he was a handsome man… why couldn’t he have been the man she was to marry, instead of that horrid general. “Thank you for your hospitality, I’ll stay here but I don’t know if any further housing arrangments will be necessary. Having said that, I’d like to discuss some more important matters with you… Maybe given what you’ve done for me and my stag, I can sway my people in your favor. It’s the least I can do for your kindness.” She suggested. However, about that time the young hybrid bounded back inside the room with a bag full of medical supplies. Fraeya watched as the young medic apologized for her sudden departure and even shared with them why she decided to leave. Not knowing the woman she couldn’t tell if she was lying or not but, that was alright. While the woman worked, Fraeya continued to distract herself by speaking with the king. “As for learning, I wouldn’t mind learning about the tieflings from yourself.” She smiled at him feeling her cheeks starting to pinken. She didn’t mean for it to sound like she was making any sort of advance towards the man… “B-But if you’d prefer someone else teach me i’m open to learning from anyone that is available.” ahhh that sounded even worse what was she some whore!? Now, her cheeks were a slightly brighter pink. Feeling the heat rising off her cheeks the woman pulled her gaze from David to watched Alyana gently remove the bandages to check the wound.

Yumeia

When the prince spoke her name in his nervous tone and greeted her she couldn’t help but blush and smile, “H-Hi.” She said back as she fumbled with the sleeves of her outfit. When he mumbled his liking of bread she giggled, “S-Same” She nervously shared her liking for it as well as she glanced off to the side, feeling rather awkward now. “U-Um… Sort of.” She managed to say, however, she realized how confusing that had to of sounded so the small child shook her head revealing her little nub antlers, “I- I mean yes!” She stammered, her long purple-ish hair draped across her little shoulders, it’s long curls falling down her back and arms. Truthfully, she lived in the “slums” the areas where the rebuilding work was still not finished or able to be started, outside of the castle’s protected walls… but she was Toma’s daughter now so, she lived within the walls.. Right? “Y-yes my papa and I did!” She chimed as he questioned whether she’d brought bread or not. “Would- would you like some?” She asked him with a tilt of her head, her hair falling to one side as she did so. “Want to go see if we can have some?” She asked him, before taking hold of his hand and following her nose to Toma, “Come on!” She giggled, she loved bread and if it would calm the prince down she’d be happy to share her bread with him. “We can get Kliff some too!” She smiled back at him, her bright hues locked on her prize, bread and calming the boy down!

Elmira

Just as she’d finished hanging her apron, Kochab had popped in through the door, his feline smile always made the woman grin, she loved beast folk they were all so cute! She’d be lying if she said she never had the urge to pin the cat to the floor to squeeze his cheeks and pet him. However, she knew if she were to ever act on those urges she’d be forced out of the castle, Kochab’s wife would have a few words in it as well she was sure. “Wonderful, Thank you Kochab.” She tilted her head in thanks before starting for the door. As she exited her kitchen Kochab was just finished speaking to the vulpine. “Mr. Sarramoux, please come this way, we’ll get the bread put up properly and then we should discuss dinner plans for the future.” She smiled back at him, forcing back any urges she had of touching his fur-covered cheeks.

Tarjinn

Tarjinn watched the centaur eat, feeling guilty that the man was so thin yet there was little food to provide him with enough sustenance. If they were back in his home, the centaur could be fed until he grew fat. He did not judge when he scarfed down the small meal. When was the last time the male even ate, or ate something worth the turmoil his body was given? He listened curiously about the history of his species in the meantime, nodding slowly. “I see,” he murmured in return. “I cannot say in my long travels that I have seen any possibility of centaurs living free, but had I known they existed before I would have searched with a keen eye. If we were not in such a crisis with Tarshious, I don’t doubt we would divert our courses to search for your kind. You deserve to be at peace with all of them.” Shifting his position against the tree, his ears were suddenly alerted to sounds deep in the forest, coming from the direction they had just escaped minutes prior. They were nothing pleasant. That is what Mordecai was escaping from, the doom the dead would have to suffer until their bones were ground to dust. Standing to his feet swiftly, he carried Suu to his horse and set her on the saddle, looking to Esme with a concerned gaze. “I am investigating,” he told her, pulling out his sword from his belongings to hold firmly in his hand. “Keep next to Suu, use the horse to continue down the path if you hear anything. Mordecai,” he turned his head to the beast man, “I don’t want to risk you being in the midst of this, going back there. Keep with them, and if you don’t feel you can run without support, tie yourself to my horse and let it help you keep going. I will meet you in the village if anything goes sour. I don’t know what to expect, but those noises were not pleasant.” Letting out a sigh, he took the rabbit and prairie dog from the fire, putting out the small flames and handing the prairie dog to Suu, the rabbit to Esme. “Share with Mordecai, I will be back as quickly as I can.” With that, he went to the trees, vanishing beyond the thick foliage and trecking towards the sounds, louder with each step. Growls, snarls, impossible noises rose from the cliff, and once he was close enough to see through the ferns, he bit his tongue when he saw the scavengers lunging into the piles of corpses, ripping into each and devouring every bit of flesh and bone. Blood covered them quickly, soaking the dirt and becoming a river of death. His eyes were so trained on the scavengers that he almost didn’t catch the few people that were climbing the cliff, right where he and Mordecai had rushed out. It left such a big track, showing where they had escaped just in time to miss the caravan. But now that meant they would find their campsite in no time at all if they continued down the same path. Cursing under his breath, he began to rush back, stomping through the forest unintentionally. They had to get out of here, before they were tossed into a battle none of them were prepared for. With his speed he returned, eyes wide and breathing out trickles of snow. “They’re after us,” he breathed, running to his steed and untying him from the tree branch before using his loop of rope to tie a makeshift harness around the centaur and attach it to the saddle. “They found our tracks and will be here in no time. We have to go.”

The male didn’t want to leave her alone so ill, but his Pheonix had requested warm tea, and by Bahamut he was going to serve her until she was well again. Stepping forward after her for a moment, he kissed her temple and stroked a hand down her arm, hoping to offer some semblance of comfort he had learned from the years of watching others in his travels with Tarjinn. “Your wish is my command, Pheonix,” he murmured, before quickly walking from her side to exit the room and prepare the tea. Though now that he thought about it, did he even know how to make tea? That was a stupid question, of course he did. He could have rolled his eyes at himself if he wasn’t so panicked to get his lover feeling better. Trotting to the kitchen, he put water into a kettle and thought for a moment. Maybe his fire powers would come in handy, able to heat it up quicker? He lit a flame in his hand, placing it under the kettle, but the heat was not warm enough. He groaned, but put the container over the fire and began to grab tea leaves and other minor ingredients to prepare what he hoped would be a tea she could ease into and enjoy over her sickness. He also looked for snacks she might like, things she tended to eat throughout the day, but all he could find was fruit. Maybe that would pair well with the tea? He certainly hoped so. Grabbing an apple and a selection of grapes, he sliced the apple and put them on a small plate next to a group of grapes. If anything, it would give her energy after their earlier time together.

David

David chuckled softly as she brushed off his offer of hospitality. It did not really matter, as housing was still in place for her and was being prepared as they spoke. But he would leave her to take it all one step at a time as he helped her get back onto her feet, figuratively and literally. Her offer was very intriguing though. Ease her people’s mind? Did she have that much control over the place she came from? “I thank you for the offer, though it is not necessary. I don’t require payment or a favor in return for helping you and your group - I would have helped you regardless. But you are more than welcome to do anything that would ease your mind about all of this.” He smiled, hearing the door open and looking to see Alyana return with her needed supplies and apologizing for her exit. He really couldn’t help but laugh. “You’re alright, I’m glad you could find everything you need. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you that you need.” The woman began to work, so the king looked back to his company, not wanting to disturb the healer from her work. Lady Fraeya blushed madly at her own words, and he grinned at it, not expecting such a reaction. He saw nothing wrong, though he was sure she was just embarrassed about asking to be in a private conversation with the king of Folgario himself. “My lady, it would give me great honor to teach you what I know. I only know so much as I am an outsider to their race and culture, so for anything detailed I will refer you to those that know more, but I would be pleased to offer what I can.” Reaching out, he let the baby tiefling continue to nibble at his fingers, smiling broadly.

Kliff and Fenrinn

Listening to her responses, Fenrinn nodded before he saw her hair fall, revealing the two stubs atop her head. His eyes widened, and he was entranced by the new discovery for a minute. He thought she just didn’t have horns at all, but sure enough they were there, just growing! It made him smile, just a tiny bit. She continued and said she brought bread, and his heart leapt from his chest, nodding excitedly. “Y-Yes! I like bread a lot,” he said quietly, suddenly having to give chase after her as she went to go get it. Would he get to have a whole loaf by himself? That would be so cool, he couldn’t wait. “K-Kliff likes bread too,” he mentioned, and when he looked back, he saw the cat fly down the stairs, pausing for a moment before chasing after them. “Wait for me!” the cat called, sheathing his wooden sword and bounding up to them, catching his breath. “Where are we going?!”

Toma

Shocked out of his entrancement of the kitchen staff, he looked to the head woman of it all, who was calling him inside. He rushed in and set his bread baskets on an empty space of the counter, clearing his throat and curling his fluffy tail around his legs to prevent tripping anyone. “D-Dinner plans for the future, you mean the ball?” he asked, standing close to the counter. He didn’t want to get in anyone’s way, lest he be thrown from the kitchen or the castle entierly. He wanted to keep watching them, see how their fluidity got meals done quickly and efficiently.

Esme/Suu/Mordecai

Being handed the rabbit as words flew from Tarjinn’s dragonic lips, Esme quickly jumped to her feet handing the rabbit to Mordecai in the process. She knew what Tarjinn was hearing, she could hear it too but she wasn’t about to running out there to see what was going on either. “Tarjinn don’t, we should just mount up and leave now!” She quickly got her protest out but her husband to be was already setting off to see what was going on. Looking from Mordecai then over to her kit she was speechless, her heart racing and fear struck her. “Quickly, eat and then let’s get our things packed up…” She told the two of them, as she paced from side to side of their campsite.

Having nodded to Tarjinn, showing him he understood his roll, the centaur tried to remain as calm as he could, however, staying calm with a woman in panic was… difficult to say the least. Looking up at the cat-folk as she panicked, Mordecai sighed, “Lady you need to calm down… He gave us his orders just sit and listen, we’ll give him a few more minutes and then we will leave… Now eat.” He said as he snapped the cooked rabbit in half and handed her the upper half of the animal. Biting into the rabbit’s thigh he silently ate however, the snow leopard did not. Instead, the female continued to pace holding the rabbit’s severed body in her hands as she traveled from one side to the next. Pausing, he watched her eyes shoot to the plains and forests in which tarjinn had ventured off in. With her eyes contracting, focusing on what was coming towards them, it unsettled Mordecai causing the horseman to jump to his feet as quickly as the man could given how weak his body was. About that time Tarjinn came flying into the picture, words once again flying quickly from his lips, “That’s our cue!” the beast muttered before swiftly picking up Suu and throwing her up in the saddle with Tarjinn, dropping his half-eaten meal in the process. About that time Tarjinn had a makeshift harness created to place around the centaur, just in case. Getting it around himself he wasn’t about to be embarrassed over wearing something for horses.

Esme had stayed on the grown ready to help Mordecai if needed, but seeing as he had the harness on quicker then she could manage to help she jumped over to her own horse and began to mount up. Bumping the animal in the sides she positioned herself beside Tarjinn, leaning over she quickly delivered a kiss to his draconic cheek. She knew this could be a point where they get separated, she knew Tarjinn wouldn’t abandon the centaur if it came to that… “Please, ride fast.” She told him knowing that if he’s helping Mordecai it could put the child at risk. As time continued to tick by she could hear voices coming closer… there was something with them too… Probably a tracker if she had to guess. “We need to go..” she quickly leaned over and took Suu in her arms knowing Tarjinn would probably prefer this so he could focus on what he already had attached to his horse. As soon as she had the child in her saddle and held tight to herself, Esme tightly turned the horse towards the direction of the village before jabbing the animal again with her heels and taking off. With the breeze beating against her face, the horses hooves digging into the earth as they traveled, the woman’s eyes began to tear up. Biting back the fear in her heart she held Suu tightly to herself, not looking back. Her goal was to get herself and Suu to the village, with or without Tarjinn if that’s what she had to do. However, the thought of possibly losing Tarjinn caused the woman’s heart to act terribly.

Ailani Kilrune’s Phoenix

After Kilrune had left her side and she was halfway to the bedroom, Ailani turned back around and rushed back into the bathroom. She couldn’t hold it back anymore, shutting the door behind her the woman raced to the chamber pot, before wretching, losing everything she’d eaten that morning. Once the puking had stopped, the woman cleaned her face up, rinsing her mouth and freshening her breath with what she normally would. Sighing softly, she felt much better at least for the time being… she hoped Kilrune hadn’t heard. Quickly, she began softly walking back to their room. Making it inside she changed into something comfortable, less tight around her body, and curled up in their large bed. With her hands sliding down around her stomach, she could feel an unfamiliar tightness… Not muscle tightness, it was different only setting her fears in even deeper. Rolling over she hid her face in her pillow before pulling the blanket up and over her damp hair.

Alyana

“I’ll be sure to report any specific needs.” Alyana smiled at the king before returning her gaze to the wound and focusing. Looking over the wound, applying a sauve of pain relief, to better aid the woman. Alyana smiled as she turned her gaze more towards David then Fraeya, scared to look the woman in the eyes. Once silence fell between the two she parted her lips, “The work done here is well done and I don’t see any reason for me to do anything more than what I’ve done.” She informed them. “I did apply a stronger pain-relieving sauve and as needed, Lady Fraeya, I have a few packets here to put in your preferred drink. It’s also for pain, however, I suggest it’s only taken when the pain is to nearly unbearable.” She informed her, however, as she looked at the women she never made eye contact, instead, she had turned her attention back to wrapping the wound once more. “Was there anything else I need to take a look at?” She asked politely as she finished her work and stepped back from the bed and Fraeya as she patiently waited for a reply.

Fraeya

She could see the curiosity in the man’s eyes, clearly, he was questioning her suggestion, “Don’t think of it as payment… Think of it as a thank you.” She told him simply before listening to what he had to say. “Very well then.” smiling at him she tried to calm her burning cheeks, her golden eyes dancing off to the side. About that time, David allowed the tiefling child to have his hand back. Instantly the baby went back to gnawing away at his fingers, giggling as he did so. Watching the infant her cheeks no longer pink at this point, Fraeya parted her lips “May I have parchment, an inkwell, and a quill feather, please?” She asked him. If she was going to be confined to the bed, she needed to at least take this time to write to her family.. Warn them of the generals ill will towards her and where she currently was and the help given to her… It was nerve-wracking, she had no idea whether they’d take her side over the generals or not… though she did know one thing she was her father’s daughter and he, at least in the past, would go to the ends of the earth to end anyone who dared harm his little flower.

Yumeia

Seeing the excitement boil out of the young boy with her she couldn’t help but giggle, “Well then hurry up!” She told him, all smiles. Hearing the feline boy, Yumeia looked back at him, still wearing her bright smile, “Hurry up, Kliff!” She said before skipping a little bit, “To get some freshly baked bread!” she told him openly as her curls bounced with each stride down the hall, her little tail swaying from side to side as she traveled. Before long, the three of them had managed to find themselves in the kitchen. Spotting her papa inside talking to a very pretty thin woman, the tiefling pressed her pointer finger to her lips to shush the boys. She had a feeling if she asked they wouldn’t get the bread… but snatching it was an entirely different story!

Elmira

Taking one of the baskets, Elmira walked over to the racks for the bread. Beginning to place them on the shelving units, the woman couldn’t help but giggle as he’d opened up an opportunity for her to tease him. “No, silly I mean dinner plans with me silly.” She gave him a big grin before sending the vulpine a wink. Waiting for his reaction she couldn’t help but giggle, “Yes, for the ball… I want to decide on which types of bread and sweets we should include. Not only that but I’d like your assistance in the kitchen during that time.” She told him kindly, dropping all her teasing tendencies for the time being. Emptying the first basket she set the empty basket down on the counter careful to not get in her staff’s way.

Tarjinn

Preparing his horse to ride out of danger, Tarjinn felt a kiss upon his cheek and looked up to Esme, heart suddenly thudding in his chest. All this newfound affection from her was making it worse, making him want to stay by her side and not let her go for a few hours. But now was not the time to explore what love truly was - the adrenaline from the panic was getting to his head. He watched as she took Suu and rode off, letting out a breath of relief. At least they were out of danger’s range. Tightening the centaur’s harness slightly and hopping onto his own horse, he tugged on the rope and began to trot away from the site, picking up speed every few moments. He was not as quick as his fiancee, but he certainly hoped he could catch up to her. “Don’t look back,” he told Mordecai over his shoulder, urging the man to keep pace despite his condition. He hoped his new companion had enough energy and adrenaline to last to the village, however far that was. But he worried that if the beast-man faltered, so would his own horse, leaving them prey to whatever was following them. “What are we up against, Mordecai? Will we be caught?” Thoughts of Esme and Suu raced through his mind. What if the last time he saw them was racing away, him saving them to save Tarshious without either of them? He grit his teeth, eyes narrowing. He couldn’t think that way. He was going to get to the village, to the kingdom beyond, and marry his snow leopard damnit, no matter what got in his way. He tapped the horse’s sides to urge him into a gallop, kicking up dust on the road and weaving through the trees to avoid coming across the cliff and those that pursued. If they did not leave fast, their tracks would be enticing to the enemy, someone he did not want to face.

Kilrune

Kilrune waited impatiently for the water to boil, pacing the kitchen. He felt terrible to just be here while his lover was ill upstairs, but surely this was not too serious that leaving her for a few minutes meant life or death? Rorran was still walking and aware before she fell to the poison, but knowing that Ailani had to lay down… Panicking, he grabbed the kettle and tested the water, deeming it a suitable warmth after the few minutes he had it over the heat before pouring it over the tea leaves. He placed the large mug and small apple and grape plate on a platter, going back up the stairs as quickly as he could. Upon entering back into the room, he grimaced at the slight foul smell, and once he walked over to the woman’s nightstand and placed the platter down, he could finally pinpoint it at the bathroom. She really was sick, but how severe? He tried to hide his worry, but he had never had to face this before; last time this happened, he had abandoned the home and ended up with Ailani instead. Perhaps he should have waited another night, learned what he needed to do… Right now he was just stuck and didn’t know if she would die, if she would succumb to a poison or sickness that couldn’t be cured. Standing in place, frantic to his thoughts, he finally walked over the bathroom door and placed a candle of lavender on the counter, lighting it with a wave of his hand before walking back to the bed and sitting next to Ailani, who had the covers over her head. He felt so useless just sitting here, unable to do anything but fetch her things to ease her suffering. Sighing out, he turned to face her, crossing his legs before he gently pulled out her hair from under the covers and grabbed a tie from his nightstand to put her hair away from her neck, where it could be away from her skin and not overwhelm her with heat. He only knew how to from his own hair - anything more complex than a simple tie was confusing. As he worked, careful not to tug on any strand or individual hair, he blew cool air across her, hoping it helped to ease her body so she could relax. It was the only thing he knew how to do, really. He didn’t know what she needed, so anything he could do he tried.

David

When Alyana finished her work on Fraeya’s leg, he glanced over with the continued smile on his face as she explained her work. He was glad that she had been able to do her work swiftly, knowing exactly what the Lady needed to help with her injury and let her recover without pain. He bowed his head gratefully, letting the baby continue to slobber on his hand. “Nothing you need to look at, you’ve done an absolutely wonderful job. Remind me to discuss your title with you later, I’m very pleased with your work thus far. You are dismissed.” Allowing her to gather her things and leave the room, he looked back to Fraeya and his smile turned to a soft grin. “I always accept thank you gifts, so I will accept yours if that is what you deem it to be. But you are under no obligation.” She then requested items for writing, and he was more than pleased to hear it. She seemed to be feeling well enough to put thoughts on paper, and he liked to see that. “Of course, I have plenty myself. I’m something of a personal writer, so my study is filled to the brim with every material you need.” Calling for a ninja, he requested the items once they appeared and let them vanish back into their smoke, going to get the parchment, quill, and ink the lady wanted. “I also need to take you on a tour when your leg is better or we find an alternative for you to move. There are plenty of rooms and amenities you can take advantage of here, including a library and the gardens as you can see. As a guest, you’re free to any of them, just like Miss Alyana and the others are.”

Kliff and Fenrinn

The two boys raced after the tiefling girl, both thrilled to have someone so eager to play with. She even gave them treats, who could say no to that?! Kliff was personally very happy to have someone that hopped in without any trouble, a bubbly girl that even wanted to play their games. He was glad she had come to visit. Crouching down behind the wall, he studied the staff and their tasks and kept quiet by Yumeia’s request. He wasn’t sure what she was waiting for, but he couldn’t wait to find out.

Toma

At the cook’s response, Toma’s jaw dropped to the floor and he stared at her, furry cheeks burning red. Even when she dismissed it, he didn’t know what to say, what to do. Had she meant it, or just teasing?! Did he need to suddenly prepare to be here later for dinner with her?! Clearing his throat, her tone shifted as she explained her true intentions, and though his face was still pink he nodded and listened intently. “O-Of course,” he replied. “My bakery is o-open to you, my lady. I think the samples I brought will help with deciding what we should add… Sourdough is always a good entree choice, though there are many different types of such that vary in taste. I personally recommend my own recipe of the Fox Tail, a braided and leavened bread that offers a fluffy interior that you can take individual pieces of, like little fox tails. Its easier than making lots of rolls, and is sweeter than most flatbreads. Because its baked with honey too, it works as a last course companion to shift onto the dessert selection.” Wringing his hands, he looked down and then at his baskets. “I-I have two in here for your tasting, among the others. Included are some pumpernickel, a whole wheat loaf, naan slices, and breads made of vegetables like potatoes and carrots to offer different tastes… Custom bread isn’t off the table, either!” He hoped she was pleased with the selection, separate from the main order that she requested, placed in the third basket.

Alyana

Given Davids response, Alyana dipped her head kindly, “Very well.” She said with her same warm smile as always before quietly leaving the room. At this time, all she could do now was wait for Legion to return with the plant she needed, she hoped he’d find it. Returning to her own living quarters, the hybrid placed the medical bag down on her dresser before walking to her window and sitting down in a nearby chair. With her eyes locked on the outside world, Alyana waited for quite some time just sitting there, taking in what there was to see from her window. With so many thoughts running through her head she didn’t know what to focus on and felt maybe just sitting there, for the time being, losing herself in the beauty of the gardens, she’d be able to relax a little. Once an hour had passed if not more, the young woman decided it was time she left her room. Surely legion was back now… right? Standing from the chair, the girl made her way across the room and out and down the hall. Moments later, she found herself calmly gazing at some flowers just outside the glass doors of the castle. Her hands were folded behind her back as she waited for the tiefling.

Legion

After a long while of searching, at least an hour judging by the sun, Legion had gathered quite a sum of the flowers Alyana had sent him to find, picking two to place nearer the castle as well. Hopefully they would thrive, seeing that the group he had found was a good bunch and provided him with plenty of resources. He was rather pleased, and hoped the healer would be too. Trotting his way home, he dismounted Stallion and allowed him out to pasture after taking off his tack to mingle with the other loose horses, taking his saddlebag of flowers and placing their contents into a smaller bag to carry inside. Tail curled in satisfaction, he greeted the stablehands as he walked inside and meandered through the halls looking for Alyana. However he was surprised to find her in none of the places he would expect. Where had she gone? Frowning, he paused his search to ask a guard, who said they saw her heading towards her quarters not too long ago. The tiefling was curious by this notion and thanked the guard before changing his path to her suite. It was quiet here, everyone out doing their tasks or enjoying their own time in their suites, possibly even figuring out the mystery of the elven woman and her steed. He had no interest in any of it though, not without Alyana explaining it all to him. Upon arriving at her room, he knocked before he simply entered, shutting and locking the door behind him. He did not want someone barging in unannounced, especially not Kearney who might discover their plans somehow. It was an extra precaution, but one he wanted to take. “Hello Alyana,” he spoke, taking off the shoulder bag he held and setting it down on her bed. His eyes were trained on the floor to avoid seeing anything he didn’t want to, though he couldn’t admit to himself that anything he walked in on would be very abhorrent. “I have collected the flowers we need, as well as two preserved specimens to replant closer to the castle to ensure we have a stock. Stallion tried to eat them, but luckily I kept him from doing such a thing. I hope these are to your liking. I...also found these, and thought you might like them in your collection as well.” Reaching into the bag, he pulled out bright yellow and orange flower petals, holding them out in his palm. “David named these Ember Crowns, and they are quite popular here. Their petals provide warmth in the coldest winters and weathers, and are used among children especially to prevent frostbite. Though they do not have too much use at the moment, I thought you might like their color, which stays even as the petals detach, like they never fade or die. A good reminder that no matter what happens, there is always a silver lining.” Clearing his throat, he put the small pile next to the bag. “I also figured you may know more about them...and I would like to learn about their origins and other uses. I am sure they have another name. These flowers mean quite a bit to myself. You have your deathbells, and I have my ember crowns.” He hoped he had not spoken too much, but as the Grand Advisor he could technically speak as long as he wanted. He just hadn’t seen these flowers in quite some time, so to find their petals was a treat and knew Alyana was the one person he could trust to share in his enthusiasm of botany, at least about this plant piece he brought to her.

Esme/Suu/Mordecai

As ready as he’d ever be, Mordecai looked to Tarjinn giving him a quick nod of his head, “I’m ready when you are, and I’d never dream of it.” he told him flicking his tail as he did so. With his stretched skin twitching, the man’s hooves began to dance back and forth, his nerves beginning to get the best of him all over again. Before much longer, they were starting forward, at first they were moving at a slow and easy pace. “Get your ass in gear, don’t worry about me I can keep up! I”m not about to let myself die or let you get dragged down with me… You have a family to race after, I have nothing to lose except for my life so-” With a quick smack to the ass, Mordecai made sure to send the man’s horse into a canter shortly after they’d managed a gallop. With their hooves thrumming against the grassland soil, the centaur then decided he could give the lizard his responses. “... To be honest, I’m not entirely sure…” he told him between strides knowing it would be hard to hear over the beating of their hooves and tack squeaking. “The dumpers normally bring what they call scavengers, their monstrous beasts that eat the dead… however, we shouldn’t have to worry about them they only eat decaying flesh!” He huffed out, his nostrils flairing as their speed continued to climb. Every long stridded step, the man made sure to keep his shaky legs underneath him and steady. “They could possibly have trackers with them…. “ he finally stated, “It’s not normal for them to use such means but…. Times have changed.” he shouted over to him keeping his eyes ahead as he did so. “Once we get to the village or even a body of water I can dive into that should help remove my slave-ish scent,” he told him, “that’s all those hounds have to go off of… I highly doubt they have my personal scent picked out from the rest of the bodies.” He assured him, at that time his deep green hues caught the sight of a horse ahead, Esme mounted ontop hauling just as much if not more ass then they were. “Where’d you find such a catch, hmm?” He grinned over at the man, trying to lighten the mood. “She’s quite brave for a woman… not to mention she has a kind soul. “ Stumbling a bit Mordecai quickly corrected his miss step and began to focus again. They’d covered a large stretch of land by now, surely that village wasn’t to far off now right?

Ailani Kilrune’s Phoenix

A bit of time passed before Ailani heard footsteps traveling up the stairs, moments following she felt her lover’s hands sliding through her hair. Kilrune began combing it gently before tying her raven locks up and away from her neck. A small smile fell across her lips from under the covers and the feeling of his cool breathe on her neck just made the moment even more enjoyable no matter how ill she was feeling. However, that didn’t keep the worst of her thoughts at bay…. What should she do about this? Should she tell him… or should she go to the next extreme and rid her body of what burdened it? She knew what to use… what poisonous plants to get…. Goldenseal and Mugwort… That’s all it would take. Feeling herself wanting to wretch again, she curled into a ball on the bed, tucking her knees against her chest the best she could given the discomfort she felt from pressure around her midsection. Pushing the horrible thoughts away, the woman muttered softly beneath the covers, “That feels nice…” She told him, she really enjoyed it when he played with her hair, his cool breath against her skin. It was hard to not recall the customs in Tarshious, how breathing on one was a courting practice, silently claiming, showing your love even.

Alyana

Being to caught up in her thoughts, Alyana never heard the knock at her door. With her eyes still watching the flowers in the garden below, it was no surprise she about jumped out of her skin upon hearing her door shut, the lock clicking as it was turned. Jumping up from her chair, causing the piece of furniture to fall backward Alyana’s eyes were wide a small surprised squeak had left her lips. “L-Legion, h-hello! F-Forgive me I didn’t hear you knock!” She quickly apologized for her rudeness before turning to pick up the chair she had caused to fall from the force of her stand. As she turned, she listened to Legion speak, giving her eyes as she did so… however, with her eyes fixed on him, in an attempt to not be ruder then she had already managed to be, the girl would misjudge the space between her and the turned over furniture. “Thank you, I’m glad you were able to locate them! We can start them off in the greenhouse make sure they are stable with the soil around the castle and then begin planting them here and there. However, we should keep them away from the livestock and any plants we plan to use in for medicine or cooking, the death bell is poisonous after all.” She reminded him with a warm smile. About that time he revealed the Ember Crown flower causing the girl eyes to rest on the beautiful flower in his hands. It was a gorgeous flower for sure, one she’d never seen before now. “Their absolutely beautiful, Legion… Though I don’t kno-” Taking a step forward, her leg got caught on one of the wooden legs of the chair causing her to topple over landing face-first on the carpeted floor, her knees catching and holding her hind end up. For a moment, she took the time to catch her breath and grasp what just happened, not realizing the fabric of her skirt was revealing all that she so carefully kept hidden from the world. Pushing herself up a bit from her all but elegant fall, “As I was saying-” She started in again, trying to ignore the fact she’d just fell to the floor like a piece of timber. However, as her eyes met the figure in front of her, she was basically at his feet…. And on her knees… that was when she realized there were more embarrassing things to worry about than her less than graceful blunder.

Fraeya

“I also need to take you on a tour when your leg is better or we find an alternative for you to move. There are plenty of rooms and amenities you can take advantage of here, including a library and the gardens as you can see. As a guest, you’re free to any of them, just like Miss Alyana and the others are.”

Watching as he dismissed the young medic, she smiled back at him as he returned to answering her previous statement. “I’m aware,” Fraeya told him, still very keen on trying to help his kingdom with the help fo her own people. “Really? I didn’t take you for a writer but that is a wonderful hobby to nurture.” She praised him, “I too enjoy writing when I have the chance, it’s a nice way to relieve myself of the daily stress of life… Though I must admit, I don’t do it nearly as often as I probably should… I prefer to ride my stag around the forest and kingdom as a whole. Giving my guard a nice run for their money.” She chuckled at the thought of the trouble she caused them… she hoped they were alright. Once the materials were brought to her, the woman motioned for them to be placed on the nightstand beside the bed, for now, she’d enjoy King David’s company before focusing on a letter to her father’s palace. “Well, it seems you’ll just have to pack me around then.” She said jokingly, “Staying cooped up in here when knowing there is a perfectly beautiful garden just beyond these walls is maddening don’t you think?” She said yet another grin on her face. She was feeling better already, however, that was the pain medicine talking… “All jokes aside, I’m happy resting here for now… I want to get better quickly so I can be with my stag.” She told him, “I don’t think I mentioned it but his name is Eldrin… If you happen to be out in the stables give him a pat for me, please?” She asked as her eyes fell to her little one, still slobbering away on the mans fingers. This caused the woman the chuckle, “I think we should get something for him to eat pretty soon before he manages to gum off on of your fingers.” She teased as she gently combed her finger tips over the tieflings baby white hair.

Yumeia

Once all the staff had their backs turned and her papa was to busy talking to the pretty blonde who was equally too focused. Yumeia quickly and silently made her away into the kitchen. Once at the racks she quickly grabbed her favorite sweet bread and two other random loaves of bread that she thought the boys would like. As quickly as she had grabbed them, she darted out of the room with just as much stealth with her little deer hooved feet leaving hardly any sound behind. Getting out of sight once out the kitchen doorways she rounded the corner to the boys holding out the bread she’d managed to snatch. “There you go.” she smiled as she spoke softly before motioning for them to head back to the area they were originally in.

Catching how flustered he was only caused the woman to grin, he was just too cute for his own good! She’d have to tease him some more, he was much more entertaining than someone else she knew. “Wonderful, Why don’t we take this to my office? We can try whats here in this basket first. “ She suggested, “Maybe you can show me how to make some of these breads to help with the numbers, the entire village should be at the ball after all.. I need to make sure we have plenty to go around and if not then I should be able to quickly whip something up while the party continues.” She explained, “Ah, I’m excited to try all these, you know what… Why don’t we discuss them in my office like I suggest but try them all at dinner this evening with the king?! I’m sure he’d enjoy it and having everyone’s opinions on the table would be much more suitable then just my own tastes.” She smiled at the thought before looking at the fox before her. “What do you say, Mr. Toma.” she flashed her lashes at him playfully. The centaur didn’t want to tease him to hard he may go flying out the door, and she didn’t want that.

Tarjinn

The horse and the horse-man were quick to go full speed down the road, the beast surprisingly keeping up with the pace they were going. Tarjinn couldn’t help but be determined by his tenacity, even though he had the perfectly good reason of escaping slavery for his reasoning for leaving quickly. As they galloped down the dusty road, the dragonborn listened to his responses, staring ahead. The scent, it was good to keep in mind. Even though the scavengers would be after Mordecai, all of them could be at risk of being followed by the group if they truly wanted all their slaves back, no matter the cost. Everyone would need to wash and hide overnight to avoid the group following their tracks beyond the next village. Filing that away for when they arrived, he was more than relieved when they turned a corner on the path and saw Esme riding up ahead, speeding as fast as they were to get to the town and to safety. He was so focused on making sure she was safe ahead of that he was delayed in hearing Mordecai’s comments, and when he looked over to the man-beast he saw the sly grin he possessed. It was surprising how cheerful he could be, find a better topic than the panic at hand. “You’re right about those,” Tarjinn replied when he could above the hooves beating on the soil. “Esme actually came to me, she arrived with a caravan of catfolk that settled to sell their wares and celebrate Suu, the little one we have. There was a certain...incident that happened, leading to our engagement. We’ve been together a few weeks now.” Had it truly not been that long? He couldn’t think of ever leaving Esme, even if their engagement was still a fraud in the eyes of government and legality. He just hoped her parents, the King and Queen of Tarshious, would truly bless their engagement and allow them to wed as soon as possible. Waiting to be by her side seemed ridiculous and unnecessary when they both knew they would be loyal to one another. “We will wed in Tarshious, if all goes well. She needs me as much as I need her, and I vowed to protect her and her kingdom.”

Kilrune

Hands stroking through her raven locks, Kilrune wrapped the tie loosely around the grouping, letting it rest an inch away from her neck to give more air to her warm skin. Though she curled tighter into a ball as he worked, she soon relaxed, and it brought him peace to hear her speak, hear her say he was helping. That’s all he needed to hear. It was silence for a while, him continuing to cool her body and stroke her now tied hair. If only he knew how to do more complex styles, she could see herself in a mirror when she felt better and see her hair done beautifully, something to make her smile. He didn’t exactly know where he would even start with that though, and there were definitely no resources here for such a thing. Dull claws combing gently through her hair, Kilrune swallowed as he gazed down at her. If the cold was helping, he knew something that could continue to ease her from her heat and discomfort. Breathing out a rush of air, he went still, allowing his body to sink into coldness, scales cooling. Though not freezing to the touch, his body was chilled, providing a source of healing for his ill lover. He reached down slowly, wrapping her upper body in his arms and pulling her back between his legs for her to rest against his body, arms snug around her midsection and muzzle rested by her jaw. Though the action of cooling his body made him tired, as it reduced his energy to provide such cold, he would stay awake as long as necessary to provide Ailani with what she needed. He bent his head to kiss her shoulder, kissing up to her earlobe and jaw with his body enveloping hers. After, he rested his head against hers, closing his eyes just to feel her against him.

Legion

Legion had hardly noticed what had happened upon his arrival, but once he heard Alyana stutter and a thud on the ground, his eyes flashed upwards to see she had knocked over the chair she was sitting in. He couldn’t help but smile in great amusement, having never seen this embarrassed before. She began to talk about housing the deathbells, wanting them in the greenhouse to raise. It wasn’t a bad idea, and he hoped they would survive and thrive well in the environment. Under her care, he was certain they would do well. He was glad she found the ember crowns as beautiful as he did, and was surprised she began to doubt the flower. At least until she tripped, rolling towards him and flashing her undergarments in such a way that made his face burn. He had to look away temporarily as she adjusted herself, not sure what to think or what was going through his head. Neither of them was expecting that certainly. He had hoped for an interesting time with Alyana, but seeing that was not what was on his list of expectations. Clearing his throat, he looked down to help her only to see her on her knees, gazing up at him with pink cheeks and a flustered expression. He rarely had the urge or the demand to see people knelt at his feet, but seeing Alyana as such...it brought in an emotion he couldn’t describe, couldn’t name. Both of them caught off guard, the tiefling bent down and sat on his knees in front of her, an amused expression dancing across his face, sans smile for fear it would embarrass her further. “As you were saying,” he murmured, gazing into her gem-like eyes to hear what she had meant to say before they were both caught in a whirlwind of emotions. He hoped she hadn’t caught onto his hestation, the strange emotion that flared from within him. He hadn’t even noticed his tail curled tightly to himself until he now knelt before her.

David

David’s eyes were bright with interest as Fraeya spoke of her affinity of writing. He did not meet many who liked such a thing, preferring others to write thir experiences for them or just read novels instead. He understood riding instead though; how much did they have in common? “Riding is certainly relaxing, and I find it clears the mind enough to write further when I return home. I get my best inspiration from nature, from what the world gives me.” He watched the ninja return with the materials, directed by the woman where to place them before his attention was brought back to her. She mentioned the garden with a grin, and he couldn’t help but laugh. “We will get you out there soon enough, just wait and see. If I have to bring you a flower every day until you can go out there, so be it. Its quite the creation I have nurtured over the years, and I love to share it with each guest that comes through my doors. The ball I have coming up will have access to the garden for those wishing to escape the crowd and music, and I myself will likely be wandering through it that evening after some dancing and mingling.” Fraeya continued, and as he listened David grabbed his handkerchief from his breast pocket to wipe off the excess drool coming from the baby’s mouth as he chewed. “I would be more than happy to give Eldrin attention for you whenever I go to the stables next. Perhaps he would enjoy some female company? My horse Evergreen appreciates having other horses and steeds to mingle with, I’m sure it would make him feel better,” he teased. He had to refrain from mentioning he was very similar, enjoying female presences within the castle walls. After being left by a woman he cared for, having others to distract him from that pain was a welcome sight. “Ah, yes, my poor fingers! The village will humiliate me for allowing a baby to take my beautiful fingers with his ferocious gums. I may actually have some toys leftover from Fen. I meant to save them for whenever I had another child, but…” He laughed a bit shyly, shaking his head, “that will not be happening anytime soon. I will go see if I can find them, and if not, my Ambassador that lives here has a young baby around his age. They may have some items to help with his chewing and his teething that will happen sooner or later.”

Kliff and Fenrinn

Kliff watched with wide, curious eyes as Yumeia snuck her way into the kitchen, silent as a mouse as she maneuvered around the staff and even her father and the head chef as she grabbed the bread loaves, speeding out as soon as she grabbed her prize. He practically drooled on himself at the sight of the bread, and when she handed them over and began to lead them back to the living room, he shared a grin with Fen and began to tear into the loaf, savoring the taste. “Thisth isth amazthing!” he said with a full mouth, hardly able to breathe between his bites. Fenrinn on the other hand tore off pieces of his own, eating a couple before offering one to Tumeia as they walked with a smile. The half-orc was not as hungry as his companion, and definitely didn’t want to eat it so quickly that he could not savor the treat. “Thank you,” Fenrinn murmured, continuing to reach out the bread piece to offer as an extra thanks for getting their bread for them.

Toma

At first, Toma thought that her office was an alternative to dinner, still being stuck with her privately. Cheeks still warm, he curled his tail tighter around his legs as he watched her investigate the selection he brought. Luckily, she didn’t seem to offer the office for anything other than discussion, but the mention of dinner still could have made him sweat. Eating with the king and head cook?! Was she out of her mind?! Scrambling for an answer, he waved his hand-paws in front of him for a moment to catch his thoughts and put them together to explain himself. “I-I think that is a good idea,” he finally stammered, cheeks red once again. When she included ‘Mr. Toma’, he just about forgot how to breathe, especially when she fluttered those eyes at him. If he didnt have better control over himself he’d just about faint. “Y-Y-Yes ma’am,” he stuttered, smiling with nerves yet excitement as well, ears pinned back in anxiety for what was to come.
